The official start Luke Jackson thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Brown can kiss my ass: Luke with a great assist to Z, a nice drive and then he sit for Sasha who promptly gets a TO and TO promptly

Well, we just have an ultra-conservative regime. It's always hard for change to occur in such a setting. I'll keep the faith, hope Luke continues to work hard in practice and keep creeping up. This is painfully slow, mind you, like watching grass grow. But I'll be patient.

Even though this thread is two threads down from the top, it deserves to be bumped up to the top.

Luke had some mistakes, but he also was key to keep us in the game, his offense is what we are missing, the great thing is he is exactly what we need off the bench. Jones, i dunno what we need him for, he's not getting it done and still is missing and still to slow on defense no matter how hard he trys, and if you can tell he has been trying but just can't get it done.

Just for the record... I thought he should have been a main piece of the puzzle since the start of the season...

Luke has shown me alot in the few minutes he's had since Hughes went down. Early in the season, he seemed very tentative out there. Now, it almost seems like he' ssaying to himself, "Give it all I got, don't worry about missing shots because what are they going to do? Cut my minutes?"

Luke is trying to seize this opportunity and all he needs is a little help from the coaching staff to keep him on the floor. Even though he has his liabilities on the defensive end against quicker guards, the effort is ALWAYS there. He'll even make the "good foul" now and then to avoid an easy bucket or a foul on one of the bigs.

I feel that this may have been Jackson's coming out party. There is no way that the performances he's given against Milwaukee and LA can go unnoticed. I say start Luke and bring Damon and Donyell off the bench together for Snow and Gooden as we were at the beginning of the season, when we were rolling. Jones, as much as he bitched about not being a starter, looks more comfortable coming off the bench.

Blah: I'll come out and say it, Luke Jackson is unequivocally a far better basketball player then D. Jones and Newble. You can say he hasn't shown enough or whatever but his skillset simply is in another league compared to the other two plus he's more athletic. He'll make mistakes and have bad games becuase of his youth but talent wins in the NBA and Luke has talent

If you guys plan on doing ANYTHING longterm with Jackson, he needs to start. Damon Jones is in a major slump and Coach Brown needs to give the young guy an extended look.

Jackson has been erratic thus far in his career, but I think a lot of his struggles can be directly attributed to his mental approach. I don't think the coaching staff has done enough to push Luke into reaching his potential. When you have a player like James, it becomes oh to easy to forget about the development of lesser players. Jackson needs to be given 25 minutes per game so that his mental approach graduates from "Okay, I have to go out here and defend a little, rebound a little, and knock down the 1 or 2 shots I get in 10 minutes" to "okay, I've got to give my team 10 points and 3 boards for my team to have a chance to win".

Jackson's confidence is growing by the game. It's up to the coach to make sure that he doesn't regress.

Couldn't agree more.

havnt seen you around here for a while tj :chuckles:

What a shock! TJ is posting now that the Cavs have dropped 3 of 4 with his insight into our problems. Where were you when we beat you guys twice in 4 days? What about when we won 8 of 9? We could have given you our opinions on what was ailing the Bucks.

There is absolutely no excuse anymore for Mike Brown to not give Luke Jackson at the minimum a consistent 10-12 minutes each game. A strong case could be made that Jackson should get even more minutes than that.
Jones, Newble and Wilks played 46 minutes last night and didn't score. The Cavs need a scorer/shooter or at least the threat of scoring and outside shooting with Hughes out. Luke can provide that better than the other 3 vets mentioned.

It also can only help that Jackson plays harder when he's on the court than almost any other Cav. Many times the Cavs can do too much standing around on offense but Luke moves very well without the ball and provides the needed offensive movement.

It also seems that when Luke is in the game with Z that he always helps give Z at least 2 easy shots. He has been passing into the post very well lately.

When you treat and use younger players in a consistent manner, it becomes much more likely that they will play much more consistently. No more lame excuses. Play Luke regular consistent minutes every game.

That's what I like to read... Well put Narl...

I found it shocking that Luke had a nice night against the Bucks the other night, and I got a minute and a half of court time against the Knicks.. :thumbdown

Even worse, the night against the Jazz he had 14 points... The next 3 games, he played a grand total of 0 minutes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.. :thumbdown

I've been offline on all of my boards (yes this is my board :chuckles: ) for three weeks. I bought a new home and moved in on January 1st. I had to wait for service appointments to have my place wired for cable, phone service, and high speed broadband. LePip was aware of these circumstances and can vouch for my absence on all boards.

The Cavs kicked the crap out of my Bucks. My team is infected with the Welsch virus. The only cure is the speedy return of Charlie Bell who Jiri conveinantly injured by falling into his knee. I suppose Jiri feels that the coast is clear to start sucking again.

No shame here boys. The Cavs are a very good team. I've only insisted that by the time the season ends, the Cavs and Bucks will be within 2 games of each other either way. I've said that since the summer.

It seems that Hughes' injury has had a positive effect on the Cavs. More shots for Gooden and Z. Jackson getting more pt to develop has also been a postitive out of a bad injury situation.

Now I get it. LePip is Luke! No wonder he talks him up. Love how you refer to yourself in 3rd person to Pip.

But seriously..........Lepip is Luke Jackson.......

Ok, this Jones situation is getting out of hand. Something needs to be changed. If it means throwing Luke into the fire then so be it. If he struggles we are no worse off then currently.
