The Official True Detective Scene

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I guess that was better?

I still just don't care much for any of the characters.

I couldn't remember, why were they going for that mexican guy again?
One of his working girls pawned off Caspere's watch. They found his and Caspere's DNA on it.

I found this episode to be straightforward...ish.

They finally have a lead of Caspere's killer.

Vince Vaughn is shaking down everyone he knows because Caspere made off with his cash.

Taylor Kitsch is ashamed to be gay.

Nothing, again, happens with Mean Girl.

Collin Farrell had a week off from being miserable.

So they finally have a lead on the killer and then they end up killing him. I'm guessing next episode they start trying to say the case is closed and Vince Vaughn ends up discovering more / working with Colin Farrell based on what he finds? Not sure...

This season has been barely above a random episode of CSI's quality. I'm not even sure why I am so mad, I mean we all knew it was going to be trash when Vince Vaughn was announced as an actor in it.

It's become very apparent to me, that the writers are out of ideas, so they're just ripping off what they did in season 1 with the big gun fight.

There is so many poirly done things in the show that it might be easier to list the things it does well, actually I can't think of anything. A poor mans Miami Vice, set in LA. Vince's 5 minute soliloquy every episode is getting tiring as well. I've never lost a tooth, someone kill me.

Edit: The only bright spot is Ray, but even then he is just not that engaging if a character. Oh well seasons over soon, can't wait, maybe they will get cancelled.

In all seriousness, this season is somewhat all over the place. Lots of overlapping storylines that have yet to intersect. I will hold complete judgment until the end of the season.

Each character has their own personal demons, which can be exhausting at times. I think Farrell and McAdams are portraying the strongest characters. I've enjoyed their scenes together the most. Farrell is perhaps producing some of his best work as an actor. It's nice to see McAdams has some acting chops as well.

Vince Vaughn has been good at times but i am kind of over the "mopey" gangster angle. I feel like they threw in the Taylor Kitsch homosexuality sub-plot just to capitalize on a bigger audience demographic. I get it...he's messed up from a bad upbringing, the war, etc.

You really can't compare this season to last season. They need to be looked at as two completely different stories. IMO, no season of TD will ever compare to last season. They struck gold with the Woody and Matt duo.

I've been trying to give the show a chance, but it's half way through, and it just isn't close to what S1 was. I wouldn't say Rachel is doing a good job, but comparatively, it's not bad. Her character just isn't even close to engaging, but I don't think it is her fault directly.

Maybe it will all come together, I want it to, but the gay cop, the constant Vaughn scenes that add nothing, and just straight up lets add a gun fight that worked great in S1 type of stuff is driving me nuts. I wonder if I would enjoy it if this was season 1 of the show, and I had never seen the real season 1.

I've avoided this thread as I got a late start to the season and finally caught up, but I agree with most of you guys' sentiments completely. Show has been all over the place and somewhat hard to follow. It seemed that maybe it is going to have a little direction finally after Sunday's episode.

Thought Sunday was the best episode so far this season, but still kind of disappointed with it.

I am watching this now as an obligation instead of a desire. It's just bad.

Yeah, HBO is kind of meh right now. Not a lot of people think the brink or ballers is that hot either.

This episode seemed like it had better pace or something. I didn't have immediate regret after watching it, so that's nice.

That sexual harassment group scene was funny.
"I just really like big dicks....I really want to have trouble hand-cuffing the thing."

"This is a safe circle, right?"
"Hell yes it is."
"Hey, let her share man."
"Right."

First episode of the season I actually liked.

Feels like Episodes 1-3.5 were just a really long, boring prologue to set up the real story.
