we have a championship window?

Old jokes aside, we have four legit young pitchers who could be #1-2's in the rotation under team control for a while and some very good young hitting locked up, so yes, we definitely do..

You seem to be forgetting this one thing about free agency that holds the most power...the player...Cespedes wouldn't re-up in Cleveland, even if we paid him...plain and simple. Move on.
OK, I'll settle for Puig. He'll do, I suppose:chuckle:

We have Kluber arguably in his prime, it would be a shame to waste that.

He probably has a 3-4 year widow to be a top-notch pitcher in the league.

Being in total rebuild mode wouldn't make a lot of sense.

But yeah, I agree. Kluber's advanced stats say that if he isn't better than what CC and Lee were, then he is right on par. Pair that with the other young talent we have in the rotation, and I'd definitely say that we cannot waste what we have on this roster. It just needs a few tweaks.

I'm not saying it has to be immediate, but Gomes will be 29 next season, and there definitely is a precedent for catchers switching to first base (or another position) and improving their careers. After watching what happened with him this April, and how it has affected both his offensive production and the rest of the team, I'd rather keep a bat as important as Yan Gomes as safe as we can.

Joe Mauer, Craig Biggio, Mike Sweeney, Victor Martinez, Pablo Sandoval, Josh Donaldson, Paul Konerko, Joey Votto, and Carlos Delgado were all catchers at some point that converted for the betterment of their careers. I know Gomes has a good arm, but Perez isn't a slouch either, and Swihart has some serious potential.

Plus, if that were to happen, we have Urshela, Lindor, Kipnis, Gomes, and Perez/Swihart all around our infield for the next 4+ years.

I think you, and others in here, are having trouble understanding that certain players' bats are only valuable at certain positions. Gomes has a valuable bat when he plays catcher. The minute you move him to first, his bat is less valuable because he'd basically be a replacement level player at first.

Shitty grammar error by me.

That tells me the Indians aren't really sellers. They're just willing to get rid of the Murphy's/Moss's of the world, that have no future here regardless.

If the Indians are going to trade one of their core guys, they want immediate talent right away. Good!

I don't blame them either. I like how they're approaching this deadline a lot.
