Trade Deadline Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Well, if you read the reports, teams are making the initiative to try to get Carrasco.

Indians are probably sitting back, allowing a bidding war to start.

I doubt they're looking to trade him, but doesn't hurt to listen, and see if someone overbids for him.
Cespedes please!

Cespedes please!

Yeah, let's trade a cost controlled, very good starting pitcher, with 4 years left on his deal for 2 months of Cespedes...can we end this Cespedes shit already in here? Cespedes makes 0 sense...if there is a figure less than 0%, that's how much sense that trade would make...just stop mentioning his goddamn name in here.

Nothing says we can't sign him next year once we get him now. Give him a large long term contract at the end of the year and then get rid of Bourn and Swisher's combined $28.5M contracts.

I'll take some of whatever you are on if you truly believe this...gotta be good stuff

Swihart is a catching prospect (well, not really a prospect anymore since he's with Boston), that wouldn't block the GOAT in any way.

I'd love to maybe explore the idea of moving Yan Gomes to first. He's going to have to eventually.

Moving Yan Gomes to first would completely contradict the point of having Yan Gomes. I mean, it's hard to put into words how illogical a thought this is.

I'm not saying it has to be immediate, but Gomes will be 29 next season, and there definitely is a precedent for catchers switching to first base (or another position) and improving their careers. After watching what happened with him this April, and how it has affected both his offensive production and the rest of the team, I'd rather keep a bat as important as Yan Gomes as safe as we can.

Joe Mauer, Craig Biggio, Mike Sweeney, Victor Martinez, Pablo Sandoval, Josh Donaldson, Paul Konerko, Joey Votto, and Carlos Delgado were all catchers at some point that converted for the betterment of their careers. I know Gomes has a good arm, but Perez isn't a slouch either, and Swihart has some serious potential.

Plus, if that were to happen, we have Urshela, Lindor, Kipnis, Gomes, and Perez/Swihart all around our infield for the next 4+ years.

8 Years at $28.5

You can say so long to Lindor, Salazar, Bauer, etc. when they hit free agency for all of us then...you can't be serious, right? If you are, you might want to get your yearly checkout at the doctors office bumped up to next week.

Gomes hasn't played that long though to make the switch. I don't see any reason why he can't play it at a very high level for the next 3-4 years, at least.

Good catchers are very important, and valued more defensively than offensively.

This isn't a Victor Martinez or Santana situation where they really weren't very good catchers to begin with, and too good of hitters to keep behind the plate.

I wonder if Ryan Reighberne will be moved in the next 50 minutes or so..

It's what it will take for us in the next few years to make the World Series. We have a 3-4 year window with our current roster, yet we don't have a power hitter, and that is really all we are missing at this point.

You seem to be forgetting this one thing about free agency that holds the most power...the player...Cespedes wouldn't re-up in Cleveland, even if we paid him...plain and simple. Move on.
