Welcome Shawn Marion #31

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
"Man why would LeBron come to the Cavs they didn't even make the playoffs last year and lost Deng, Hawes and Jack."

This is why.
:chuckles:

I like Marion but i will be the first to admit that i haven't watched much of the Mav's since their championship run. Love Dirk...big fan of Cuban but they just aren't nationally televised as much these days.

Question to anyone who has watched Marion as of late: How well does he guard 4's?

IMO, he seems undersized at the 4. Does he use his athleticism going for steals? Even at 36, he has always possessed elite athleticism making him appear to be one of the quickest on the court.

I know he can lockdown players on the perimeter. I am just looking for a bit more insight on how versatile of a defender he is at this point in his career in regards to guarding other positions besides SF.

Any insight ya'll could provide would be much appreciated.

I know this isn't answering your question, but I am 99% confident Marion can guard any backup SF or PF in the league effectively, which is what he will be doing on this team for the large majority of his minutes.

Irving-Waiters-James-Marion-Love is a solid lineup with good perimeter defense.

When Irving sits, Waiters-James-Marion-Love-Varejao would be fucking ridiculous.

Hell YEah

what happened in the Orlando series will not happen again

We now have another perimeter defender taller than 6'5.

LBJ & Marion locking down people

Take turns guarding Parker and Kwahi

sick lineup LBJ,Waiters,Marion,Love,Andy

Great news. While Marion is a nice piece, the bigger news is we are now attracting the seasoned vets for the minimum, something the Cavs could not do pre-Decision I. Remember how much we had to pay for guys like Wally, Shaq and Ben Wallace, who were not only on their last legs, but we had to pay the fortune that was the last year or so of their well overpaid contract and relied upon them for starting contributions.

I think Ray now comes aboard after Love.

This is an important piece after losing Wiggins' defense/LeBron backup role.

Now let's get a rim protector.

Everyone knows this move was made to have someone to match up against the great Boris Diaw in the NBA Finals.

In 1106 career games Marion has started 94% of the time

That makes me even more surprised that he signed here

The only year he he wasn't a starter was 2010-2011 for Dallas....how did Dallas do that year?

and Clippers. I think Clippers are on par with OKC IMO
Love gives Griffin all sorts of problems. Not really worried about them.

Marion is key for defense and all but the most important thing about this signing is still Lebron. With Marion simply no need to play big minutes. Time to go Tim Duncan and rest Lebron on the the last game of 4 games in 5 nights and keep his minutes down close to 30mpg tops. Marion ensures a fresh Lebron for the playoffs and maybe even gets us one prime year out of him

The you're not scoring lineup is Delly Dion AV Marion and Lebron. Now I really would not want to try to score on that team.

Marion and Miller can come in for Lebron to take a breather. The Cavs haven't been this deep at the 3 since the pre-decision years.

We are going to have a lot of small ball lineups out there, some combination of Marion, TT, LBJ, Varejao and Love at the 3-5 spots. Each one of those guys brings different things to the table but the one thing they all have in common is they are great rebounders. Should be very exciting to watch. With the combinations of players we can put out there our depth is starting to resemble the Spurs.
