Becton is just too heavy for me to support as the pick at 10. I love his size + strength + athleticism combo, but I just don't think his weight and stamina are realistic for this scheme. Just not a fit.
Josh Jones or Ezra Cleveland could start at left tackle for the Browns in 2020, but both guys are a clear tier below the top guys and should only be considered by the Browns in a no-brainer trade down situation (multiple top 50 picks coming back).
So it comes down to Thomas, Wirfs and Wills for me at 10.
Wirfs is by far the most athletic of the three and the also best zone blocking fit. I desperately want to love him for those two reasons, but the more I watch his tape the more I'm left wanting more. He just doesn't dominate up to the level of his traits. Far too inconsistent in terms of not finishing blocks among other things. Because of his elite athleticism, his very best reps are better than Thomas or Wills' very best reps. But he simply has more bad reps than either of them due to his technique and fundamentals issues.
Thomas is probably the safest pick overall. There are no concerns about his ability to play LT. He's the worst athlete of the three, but still functional enough. Plus he's a very experienced player who graded out exceptionally well (highest PFF grade of the bunch) and got better ever year. That said... I don't think his skill set necessarily matches his PFF grade. Like Wirfs, I was somewhat surprised by the technique issues that kept cropping up in pass protection.
Wills is the intriguing one to me. Part of me thinks that if he had played LT at the same caliber that he played RT this past year, he'd be the no questions asked unanimous OT1 on all boards. I like his tape the best of the three. He looked, to my untrained eye, to have the most consistent fundamentals and technique. Obviously there's a huge level of unknown about his ability to transition to the left side that really isn't there for Wirfs and Thomas, so I don't know if that's a gamble the Browns are willing to take or not. If you draft him and he can't handle it, then you'd really be in a tough spot.
