The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Tyranny was awesome. It's rare these days that I actually finish a game, but that one locked me in and I finished it in like two weeks.

I didn't finish Outer Worlds, but that was because my storage drive on my PC died and by the time I got around to replacing it there were other games to play. I almost certainly would have gotten to the end otherwise.

Yeah, I didn’t beat it either, but I was enjoying it. Just too much to play now days, and I haven’t yet curbed my impulse buying of games to where I only buy the ones I know I want to put time into.

Steam sales are the fucking worst. Bought so many games over the years I've never even launched.

Obsidian has done more than Outer Worlds. I think Tyranny is the best game they've dropped thus far. Unique concept and doesn't overstay its welcome.

It's a shame that Tyranny didn't sell well enough for a sequel, because that one blew PoE out of the water. Really really well done RPG.

I liked Pillars also. Never played 2 though.

So two tips for anyone playing or planning to play Cyberpunk.

1. I'd recommend powering through the main story until you get through The Heist and the subsequent fallout. It's after that point where the game really opens up and you start getting a ton of the legitimate side quests in the game. Prior to that you've got a lot of gigs that you can do to make money and gain experience, but the real meaty side quests start popping up after. I spent several hours just wandering around the city and doing side gigs when it first opened up, but in retrospect I would have been better off waiting until after The Heist to do so.

2. The throwing knives skill is, at least right now and in the early game, completely worthless. What the game doesn't tell you is that you're unable to retrieve your knife after you throw it. It simply disappears. Considering that you won't be finding a ton of knives just lying around (I've found exactly one in about eight hours of play time) and buying them costs a little over $1000 at weapons vendors, it's not something you'll be using much. I'm hoping this is just a bug that is patched out of the game next week, but as of now you're better off not wasting a skill point on it until either it's fixed or later in the game when you have some actual income and can effectively stock up on knives.

Loving this game so far. The writing is what we've come to expect from CDPR after Witcher 3, and the voice acting is similarly great. I've only just met Keanu, so I can't comment much on his performance yet, although there's a brief mission where you play as him that's a ton of fun. I really hope I get the pistol from that mission at some point in the game, because it was badass.

The game is absolutely gorgeous too, especially at night when you can just let all the neon lights wash over you. I've found myself largely walking everywhere just to take in the sights. And I mean actual walking too, not sprinting from point A to point B like I usually do in Valhalla because I usually can't be bothered with calling my horse. Not that Valhalla isn't pretty in its own way with its beautiful vistas and Roman ruins, but Cyberpunk is just on another level. This is the closest we've come yet to inhabiting a world like Blade Runner.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what CDPR adds to the game over time.

Also, if you're looking to play Cyberpunk and, like me, your rig isn't really up to the task, it runs flawlessly on GeForce Now. I'm talking all high graphics settings, ray tracing, great frame rate, and lightning quick load times. It is 100% worth the cost of the monthly service. The game literally loads from hitting continue on the main menu to actually playing in less than ten seconds, and loading saves while in-game takes even less time.

Loving Cyberpunk and the fact my RTX3080 is eating it alive.

Driving mechanics are complete shit, though.

I of course gave my character the biggest circumcised dick that I could.

So it's a little weird, and a little to anime style for my normal taste BUT if you're looking for competitive game that's just a bit different, Eternal Return:Black survival is good.

Moba mixed with BR. F2P. Been playing it for a good week and I'm pretty hooked.

The input latency still isn't that great the last time I checked. You need a very good connection to have something like 95-115 ms of latency which just isn't enjoyable for me. 70 ms on mouse and keyboard is as high as I can go before the controls feel "floaty" to me.

It can definitely feel a little floaty, but considering the game looks like shit on my PC and the console versions are hot garbage, this is the only way I'm playing this game any time soon. Might build a new PC next year, but not for at least a few months.

The important thing is that it's playable at all for me. I'm doing a stealth/melee build anyway, so precision during firefights isn't as important as it would be in a game like, say, the new Doom.

Specs?

My 2600k and 1080ti are good enough at 1440p ultra everything.

I'm still amazed this little processor is kicking ass nearly a decade later. What a champ

Picked up Fenyx Rising because I wanted a palate cleanser for Cyberpunk and it's a really enjoyable game. Apparently it's basically Breath of the Wild plus Greek mythology, but I don't have a Switch so never played the most recent Zelda.

It's a lot like Odyssey was, only with a much less serious gone. Similar mechanics, and the platforming is worlds better than the sticky climbing from Valhalla. This is from the same studio that made Odyssey and as such pushes forward a lot of the better movement mechanics from that game that Valhalla lacks (Valhalla feels like older AC games).

Basically the game is a mix of combat, platforming, and puzzles. The puzzles aren't typically anything too in depth but when you're high and want to play a game that's pretty, colorful, and with snappy writing, it'll do. The game is narrated by Prometheus, who is telling a tale to Zeus, and they regularly pop in during gameplay to tell stories or provide context. It does a nice job of hitting that Pixar line like Portal 2 where it's got plenty of adult jokes but never really crosses the line past a teen rating.

This is a solid 8/10 game. It does everything well and is fun to play. I've really enjoyed playing it, and I think I'll actually finish it.
