Game Thread | 2021-2022 Season | Game # 11 | Cavs @ Knickerbockers | Nov. 7, 2021

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Our Defense with Mobley and Thybulle would be pretty nasty. I will say that. But his lack of shooting could be problematic with Allen and Mobley. But he is a beast defensively.

Isn't that pretty much exactly what Okoro’s supposed to give us?

I don't think there's probably any doubt that was Rubio's best game as a pro. Definitely his best half.
Reminds me of his Olympics performance last summer.

Guys,

The best part about this game is that tomorrow Stephen A. Smith has to eat shit about all the shit he was talking about Baker Mayfield and his New York Knicks got their ass kicked by our Cavs in The Garden.

Cleveland is gonna be on SAS ass tomorrow and if you don't usually watch First Take tomorrow is the day that you'll want to tune in for sure.
I’d recommend anyone who has access to Sirius XM to tune into NBA radio for Isola and Scalabrine 7-10am. They’ll be all over the Cavaliers.

I’ve been watching this team for 45 years and I’ve never seen a young team come together this quickly. Our road performance is unbelievable.

Toronto had a bunch of wings and so did the Knicks. Lot of good it did them. We’ve got Frobley playing mobile big man ball.

Can't stress enough how much the rulechanges timed up perfectly with deciding to try to be a super big team down low.

We get away with way, way more than we would have last year.

I dunno if JBB and Koby are based or just super lucky lol.

Maybe one day but Thybulle has a 6’11 wingspan and is already an elite defender in the league. I don’t think Philly would make that deal but I’m just saying as an example that’s the type of guy I’d look to get for Rubio.

Isn't Okoro a Thybulle clone? maybe a tad better on D, but otherwise very similar.

Who said anything about trading Rubio for an all-star wing player?

What in the world is with you guys?

He just gave you a wing who fits the timeline with Mobley.

And we absolutely should, 100%, be willing to make that move.

Ricky Rubio is on the wrong side of 30, in his last year, and if everything goes right, a back-up on this team now and in the future.

Teams of all 23 year-olds are fun for calendar shoots but traditionally don't have a ton of success.

Ricky is perfect for this team. He's barely on the wrong side of 30 and his effectiveness doesn't depend on his athleticism. He actually seems to be getting better in his 30s and I'd bet he'll be able to maintain this level of play (overall, not specifically tonight) for another 5 to 6 years easily.

OBVIOUSLY the big caveat is that he has to have interest in sticking around. If he doesn't, there's nothing to discuss. But if there is interest, I'd 100% without question rather have 3 to 5 more years of 30-something Ricky Rubio acting as a coach on the court and shepherding over this flock compared to another defensive specialist SG who makes Okoro look like Michael fucking Redd on offense just because he "fits our timeline" better.

It's not even a question.

Obviously, again, you have to talk to Rubio and see what he wants. If he's set on moving on after this season, sure, trade him for a piece that fits if you can.

Probably the latter but that’s ok too.

I have no idea what Rubio wants but to me it's gonna depend a lot on how the team looks, I'd think. And that's the hard part to predict.

If we look like Atlanta did last year, he'll probably want to stay.

If we sorta flounder and scrape for an 8th seed or just miss the playoffs...probably less likely to want to stay.

I don’t see much floundering out there. The Cavs honestly look like one of the best teams in the East. Heck, we’ve already beaten Atlanta & NY.

Won this game with Rubio's 3's and Mobley's poised floor game.

Hey I’m at the Wizards Bucks game so just checked this out…looks like another great win and Mobley’s best game as a pro. But did Sexton get injured or something? Why did he play only a few minutes?
Tripped over Robinson in the first half and played some after that . Report is that it’s a knee bruise.

He is a good two way player with decent back court size who can play PG and SG, is a great mentor to young guys and runs the offense at much better than back up level. He’s a luxury to have for an up and coming team. He’s a veteran who knows he’s not going to become an all-star and might well be amenable to sticking around to play an important role on an up and coming young team. Sure he’s not untouchable but people are talking about him like he’s not a potentially valuable asset

So I guess Sexton must be done smh

Preach.
