23 Offseason GM Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
From the Yankees.. I've provided you with some names for consideration.. but,you need to answer: why would the NYY's want Plesac when they have three just like him already??..

As I've stated.. Civale is the kind of SP the NYY's prefer to get back in a deal.. When Civale is healthy, he knows how to pitch (and keeps their idiot manager from having to make anything that resembles a smart decision).. Civale has the same kind of approach as Mike Mussina.. that's what the NYY's like.. In order for the Yankees to get Civale.. it's got to hurt hurt.. & the reason why it won't happen...

edit: Civale is more like the guys the NYY's settle for when they're not getting the best power pitcher available on the market.. Rodon, Cole.. etc..
Yes, I bet the Yankees would love to run a starter ou. there who in his last start vs then, faced 5 batters and retired one. The Yanks want to face Civale, not employ him.

So, your position from the NYY's perspective is to get pitchers who have no idea how to pitch..

brilliant !!

I'd rather watch Amed walk in FA than get IKF, and you know how badly I'd like to see Amed moved.

An average hitter/below average defender in the last year of his contract that cannot play other positions is in the way of 2 prospects currently on the ML roster with a third in Columbus. Those 2 prospects currently on the ML roster have some talent, but are unproven for the most part. I'm not even a big fan of Freeman as he has less power than Amed so right now for me it's Arias or Amed. Problem with that is Arias is the best option for the UIF position if he hits. Now you know why I like the idea of trying to acquire Rengifo so badly. Rengifo can play a UIF role or a solid 2B regularly. CATS mentioned Torres and that's a better idea too. Bottomline, I want nothing to do with IKF in any role.

So you would rather have Rosario who blocks a starting role rather than IKF who would be switched to a bench role in Cleveland

Yes because IKF sucks and we could simply have Amed in a bench role. When he plays he can play SS and Arias and/or Freeman can move around.

I too prefer Amed to IKF--and it's not particularly close.

I'd trade Amed in a package to get better--or I'd trade him for prospects. I wouldn't trade him for another veteran major leaguer who blocks young talent without actually being good.

I still like my logic lol

The Yankees have no interest in Amed...period. The last thing they want is a veteran SS.

The Yanks also have little or no interest in Plesac....just like many of our posters do.

And unless we get a significant offensive return, our FO has no interest in trading Civale.

Is Sousa better than Bilous?
Maybe, maybe not...

I have wanted to circle back to Bilous anyway. Sure he may have something we "like" - good K's for example. BUT... I am starting to think we claimed him simply to deny his return to the ChiSox org as a non-rostered player.

It would be funny to DFA Bilous and grab Sousa and keep the FU train rolling.

I do that type of stuff in OOTP when I play it lol I'm always just trying to add as much talent as possible in the game haha

It would be funny though to take 2 pitchers from the White Soxs for absolutely nothing, but I'd doubt they would pull that stunt.

There were three new "trade ideas" involving the Dodgers and the Guardians Amed Rosario posted since the Lux accident.. In no particular order:

1. Brusdar Graterol for Amed Rosario, straight "one for one" deal

2. SS/2B Tyler Freeman and SS Amed Rosario for SP Gavin Stone

3. RHRP Phil Bickford and SP Nick Frasso for SS Amed Rosario

Edit: there have been several "trade suggestions" in the comments section of the MLBTr posting about the Lux injury..

Thoughts?

I don't think the Dodgers are going to trade for Rosario personally not with some decent guys still available in free agency. I could see them making a signing here soon...

If they were going to trade for Rosario though, I have a hunch they would offer less we would want for Rosario, so the deal doesn't make any sense...

Now, I wonder if they want Freeman? Who would the Dodgers be willing to give up for Freeman?
