I bought Jedi: Survivor a week or so ago to give me something to play while I waited for them to patch Starfield and Baldur's Gate 3. It's the rare sequel that pretty much addresses every complaint I had about the first game. Cal moves so much goddamn faster in this game, and the animation is significantly smoother. Visually, the character models are a little better, but the world in general is way more detailed and the maps are substantially larger. The first planet you go to after the prologue on Coruscant is absolutely massive, and this time around they've embraced the RPG genre a bit and added some good old fashioned sidequests. There are also a few legitimate puzzles, which are a welcome addition to the party.
I'm not far enough yet to know where the story is going, but the music is on point and the voice acting for all the main characters is great. Some of the actors for side characters phone it in, though. Combat is much the same as the first game, although I'm sure I'll unlock more abilities as I progress. I've mostly just got the stuff from the first game so far. And much appreciation for them just starting you out with the shit you learned in the first game. No amnesia. No excuses for Link or Samus to have to gain back all their fucking gear. You can force push and pull right out of the fucking gate.
It's exactly the type of sequel I want to see. It doesn't fix what wasn't broke but improves upon most of what was. The map still sucks, but that's about my only complaint six hours in.
