The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm still waiting to hear what you guys have thought about Sea of Stars. I've got 20 hours into it and just fall more in love the further along I go.
Just beat the mist elder and turned the night into day or whatever that mechanic was. I'm liking everything so far.

Wyrd is clearly a nod to Gato in Chrono Trigger, right?

I'd like to believe so. Devs mentioned Chrono Trigger as a huge influence.

I do appreciate that it doesn't take itself too serious, you'll see what I mean when you meet a certain group of characters.

There's a lot of little nods to classics when you speak with NPCs. Throwaway comments that are direct callbacks to other games. It's definitely a love letter to the Era in a similar vein to Chained Echoes.

Ive heard Sea of Stars is pretty puzzle driven (ala GS my favorite rpg series) but combat is closer to Chrono Trigger or the Mario Superstar games. Does that sound right?

I bought Jedi: Survivor a week or so ago to give me something to play while I waited for them to patch Starfield and Baldur's Gate 3. It's the rare sequel that pretty much addresses every complaint I had about the first game. Cal moves so much goddamn faster in this game, and the animation is significantly smoother. Visually, the character models are a little better, but the world in general is way more detailed and the maps are substantially larger. The first planet you go to after the prologue on Coruscant is absolutely massive, and this time around they've embraced the RPG genre a bit and added some good old fashioned sidequests. There are also a few legitimate puzzles, which are a welcome addition to the party.

I'm not far enough yet to know where the story is going, but the music is on point and the voice acting for all the main characters is great. Some of the actors for side characters phone it in, though. Combat is much the same as the first game, although I'm sure I'll unlock more abilities as I progress. I've mostly just got the stuff from the first game so far. And much appreciation for them just starting you out with the shit you learned in the first game. No amnesia. No excuses for Link or Samus to have to gain back all their fucking gear. You can force push and pull right out of the fucking gate.

It's exactly the type of sequel I want to see. It doesn't fix what wasn't broke but improves upon most of what was. The map still sucks, but that's about my only complaint six hours in.

I’m enjoying as well. About 7 hours in currently. Using it and Dead Space as a nice little shake up to take a break from the absolutely huge and intimidating Starfield and BG3 lol. Good to just log onto a game and not have to remember how 38 different systems work etc, and just make progress.

Sea of Stars is an absolute gem. I assume I'm about halfway through it and man is it a treat.

I came in expecting a generic SNES Era RPG. I did not expect Chrono Trigger and Zelda Link to the Past to have a beautiful child together.

This was a game on my shortlist! I guess I will have to pick it up here soon!

Edit: I pre-ordered the special edition of Persona 5 Royal that is coming out in a couple days and I saw Tales of Eternia had an EU edition years ago, and with recently getting a region free PSP, I had to pick up the game that got me into JRPGs! I also picked up Astonish Story and Dragoneers Aria for the PSP lol I have way too many games and not enough time for it. I think some people would never leave my house if I start letting them play my collection haha

It is very puzzle driven, but none of them are overly complicated. Battle is very Chrono Trigger esque.

I think they did a good job expanding it a bit too. The side quests aren’t super detailed, but they give you added incentive to explore areas of the map that, in the last game, would have been there, but had nothing attached to them outside of a hidden item. Now there’s a brief bit of story and some dialogue.

I got to the part in Jedi: Survivor where you get the blaster. Hot damn is that stance fun. I also got the Jedi claymore, which is also fantastic. They are so much more interesting than the Darth Maul blade or the dual sabers.

Starfield is taking up my time. So much to do an see and I've barely scratched the surface.

I’m about 3 hours in and kinda gave up. A bit too complex for me. I did enjoy the initial research lab you go through.

Also, what’s with the low FPS?

the resources and crafting is above my interest, but I'll figure it out. More of a story player than crafting so it's still entertaining.
