2019 MLB Trade Deadline

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
FWIW, Franmil Reyes plays about 6.5 innings a game before Andy Green replaces him.

The Padres don't have a defensive position for him which lessens his value greatly.

I think he's much likelier to be moved than Renfroe.

Part of me just wants to see Bauer traded to the Yankees to head on a collision course with their media. I hope he does his best Trump imitation for them.

Bauer for Clint Frazier and Miguel Andujar - would the yankees do this? I would love this deal, am I crazy?

I want the Yankees to move Clint Frazier at the deadline for pitching rentals so bad, I feel it tingling in my plums. Fuck them for having so many solid outfielders that they can't get Frazier on the field.

Okay let me say for even a second that I would let go of Allen ... Francona is loyal ... And the outfield is playing well - by the way Castellanos is an outfield disaster who goes to the bench

Allen goes back down to Columbus for a month until the rosters expand.

AJ Cole and Plutko could be chosen from depending on where the health of Kluber or Cookie and their ability to fill out the rotation.

Castellanos would be taking Allen bench slot then - my core question not answered who goes to bench

Also I did not factor kluber and or carrasco

Francona is loyal ..

I say stand pat ,,, Castellanos has already told Detroit he will not dh or play 1b

Do you want that attitude or his horrid defense in place of luplow or naguin or even bauers

If it came down to continuing to play for Detroit, or come DH for a playoff team, I am confident he'd choose playoff team.

However, there is also the option to play him in LF while Bauers alternates DH/1B with Santana. It's not like Bauers is a savant in the OF.

Castellanos would become the everyday DH in Cleveland.

He didn't refuse playing DH for Detroit, that spot is already occupied by Miguel Cabrera. He refused 1B, which may come off as selfish, but at a certain point you have to look out for yourself in your contract year. Detroit had already moved him from 3B to RF, Detroit isn't playing for anything, and he doesn't appear to be part of Detroit's future plans. He said he'd gladly move to 1B if Detroit offered him an extension.

Would love to see a source about glad move to first

Chemistry seems to be important to the group ,,, do not see him as a player that adds to it nor does he add to flexibility ..

Tito did not quit on bauers when he was going bad and will not now

Who said anything about quitting on Bauers?

Trading for Castellanos would by no means affect ABs for Bauers. He'd still be the everyday LF with games mixed in at DH and 1B

he is not the everyday leftfielder now … what happens to luplow who also seems to be hitting everybody right now … platoon with Naquin … who also is hitting right now

just do not see the fascination with Castellanos as opposed to chemistry

and i do thank you for the source

Luplow and Naquin would continue to play to their platoon as they have for most of the year. Luplow blows against righties, and has only played against lefties recently.

The Indians have played 21 games since they DFA'd Leonys Martin

Bauers has played in 17 of those games. Started at LF in 13 of those games. 1 game at 1B, 3 games at DH. They were clearly comfortable with him out there everyday when they had Bobby Bradley up.

Luplow's role remains unchanged. Starts in one of the corners vs. LHP and is used as a late game pinch hitter.

I think you are reading way too much into chemistry concerns. A move for Castellanos, or any player that figures to slot into the DH role, is not a move that significantly changes the role/position for anyone on the roster.

vs. RHP
LF- Bauers
CF- Mercado
RF- Naquin
1B- Santana
DH- Castellanos

vs. LHP
LF- Bauers
CF- Mercado
RF- Luplow
1B- Santana
DH- Castellanos

Thing is Naquin is hitting lefties at an .882 OPS clip this year. Castellanos is better even than that but by how much? And how much is that worth? The real hole in our offense is at second base and, unfortunately, that's not changing this year.

You devalue Naquin vs lhp ... granted not a big power guy ...
