2019 MLB Trade Deadline

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
@jack hammill

I get why you don't like Castellanos, but you have to remember Comerica Park is also a lot harder of an OF to play in than Cleveland is as well. We Had Brantley in LF, who sincerely wasn't rated that good of an OF and we won a lot of games. I personally feel that you are fearing his defense a little to much. He has a WAR of 1.5 even with the negative defense. I think in the smaller park in Cleveland, he should actually be better. Does anyone have his home and away splits for his defense? I don't think his defense is bad enough that his bat isn't worth something, plus we have above average bench OF defensively, and Mercado, who has a ton of athletic range, I don't think he will be as scary in our ball park as you believe.

Why not Hoskins and Realmuto, while we are at it?

Indians Get:
RHP Francisco Morales
OF Adam Haseley
RHP Nick Pivetta

Phillies Get:
RHP Trevor Bauer
OF Greg Allen

I usually trust your opinion normally, but I cannot see this trade at all. Haseley is a good looking player, but dang can put out more LHP OFs than anyone else in the league. We need a RH bat period. Pivetta I am not sure I am high enough on him to go get him honestly.

My deal would more be:

2B/OF Kingery
RHP Franciso Morales
C Rafael Marchan
LHP Damon Jones (Reliever not as a starter)

for

Trevor Bauer

Honestly my package would be around Kingery, I would want two top 10-15 prospects with him plus like a Jones (who to me is a reliever).

Simply my desire to never see him in the next upfield at the expense of those who are more effective ... I am not alone in preferring he not play there

The Tigers do not even prefer him there

Bauers has been below average in LF, and I don't want the first time Castellanos plays LF for us to be in the World Series. Giving him 2 days per week in LF doesn't hurt anything, and Bauers still gets his everyday at-bats.

I don't like that return at all. Although I'm not sure there's a reasonable package that the Phillies could offer that I would like.

Haseley is just a guy I like a ton.

Morales is striking out everyone in sight.

I admit, this woud present a problem in the OF for next season with Mercado, Haseley, Naquin and then DJ and Bauers.

But man, that speed to power combo out there would be a huge WAR waiting to happen.

Do you think we could get Kingery, Haseley and Morales? I think if we could manage that style of trade, I would be all for it.

No.

They’re not going to trade key players in their race, it’s antithetical to their cause.

Well I don't see anything else I really want from them. They don't have anything I would like really in a trade going forward.

Hard to believe a deal will go down with them unless they are willing to move a Kingery in my opinion. I am not giving up Bauer for anything less than what we need.

I'm not sure how interested the Indians would be in Bohm- simply because of his timeline-but I don't think the Phillies would have him off the table. They've made plenty of moves to show they're all in on the near term.

Why would we trade Bauer if we didn't get a bat in the deal who couldn't help us out now? If I am trading Bauer I need production now from a bat in the return and also another top prospect and probably a couple more at least minor prospects. I am all for Bohm if we get an MLB ready bat who can help us now as well, but I don't see that happening.

If the Phillies want to acquire Bauer without impacting their big league club, they're gonna have to really overpay with prospects.

Any deal for me would have to start with both Alec Bohm and Spencer Howard.

I do like their 1st round pick from this past year SS Bryson Stott and future late inning reliever Damon Jones (currently a starter without a 3rd pitch).

Just think the clubhouse and fans would be pissed if they made a trade like this though.....

I'm probably not going to be a fan of any Bauer trade that doesn't get us at least one or two players that will be playing in Cleveland the next day.

We're leading the Wild Card and are three out of the division. Trading away one of our best pitchers for minor league players basically says that we don't care about this season. I need at LEAST one immediate major league starter to help us this season if we're moving Bauer.
