We have control over Kipnis. We're just not going to bring him back for $16.5 million. It really wouldn't surprise me to see him re-sign here at a lower figure, but we'll see what happens with our 2B position in 2020 when we get there.Kipnis and Oliver Perez as well. Not sure the status of Mike Freeman. And the Indians could probably bring all of those guys back, if they'd like. Don't think Kipnis is going to have much of a market; Perez and Clippard had super limited markets last year and will be 38 and 35 by Opening Day next year.
Regardless, there aren't any looming major losses, like Santana and Brantley the past 2 years.
With 38 appearances already, it looks like Perez's option is going to vest. He only needs 55 appearances on the year to lock in a 2.75 million dollar option next season. 60 appearances pushes that to $3m.
Good point on Freeman. I assumed that with only a couple years in the majors he's still under team control, but I honestly have no idea about his contract situation. He might be a free agent.
