2020-2021 Cavs Season General Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Hart is a 3nD guy right? He is really similar to Okoro. I think he is pretty underrated and wouldn't mind getting him.

Otto wont come here. He is proly going to ring chase at this point.

Thoughts on Otto Porter Jr.? I'd offer him a four year deal for the full MLE with a player option on the final year.

We're set @ every other position, but could use some help @ the wing since Okoro is undersized. I still view Okoro as a 3 until I see more progress offensively.

Way too injured. He's played like an average of 20-22 games the last 2 years.

I wouldn't be a fan of Josh Hart. He's billed as a good shooter but after his rookie season his 3PT% has fallen off. He shot 32% last season. He's 6-5 with a 6-9 wingspan so doesn't exactly solve the issue of needing a long SF. Maybe someone can sell me on Josh Hart. But to me Josh Hart has never lived up to the hype he had coming off his rookie season.
Yep he’s basically playing out Courtney Lee’s career

I really like the idea of Doug McDermott coming off our bench. I think he's one of the best free agents that we can likely afford.

The most we can offer is four years, $41,004,800 with a player option on the final year.

That's actually a pretty hefty amount, but not totally unreasonable.

The question is if Dylan Windler reliable @ this stage of his career. The dude missed his first two years like Embiid pretty much.

Furkan Korkmaz could be an option. He is unrestricted and Cedi could help to recruit him here. Full MLE might be enough to get him.

Why in the world would Cedi recruit anyone when he might not be here himself?

Cedi has 3 years left on his contract. I just don't see anyone taking him off our hands. Both him and Korkmaz have played very well together internationally, I could see them seeing it could help both their careers to be on the same team.

I am in on McDermott because he fits a need.

I’m not sure how Hart fits a need. He’s another 2.

Is he a fit? I always thought the knock on McDermott was that he couldn't stay in front of SFs and until recently he wasn't strong enough to battle PFs. The league has shifted alittle where PFs have gotten leaner and playing more on the perimeter, that has allowed McDermott to be more playable as a PF. I just don't think he is a good option if we want him to play SF.

I’m actually warming up to McDermott, I think he instantly becomes our best threat behind the 3 point line, also with the twin towers playing behind him, hopefully he can play enough adequate Defense at the SF spot, to get by……..

In terms of trade candidates, I'd look @ Boston's Aaron Nesmith. I think his value has diminished. We could potentially get him for cheap.

Nesmith for Dotson + 3 future seconds (Houston, San Antonio & our own '23).

Nesmith is too small. As bad as the shooting is, I think the priority above all should be length on the wing. Obviously shooting would be nice as well but I'm not sure the Cavs can afford both. DJ Wilson popped up in another thread and I thought that seemed like a good compromise, but apparently he's 6'10"?! I could've sworn he was like a small-ish wing. I still kinda like it, though. I remember him being solid defensively, switchable with good effort and pretty fun on the offensive end as well. Definitely has not hit his shooting stride but I don't think he's ever been given a real chance either. I think I would take him over Dougie but would be fine with either.

What's the logic behind declining his offer, do you think? I can't seem to figure it out.
I think it means that despite the talk of playing Mobley & Allen together, our #3 pick is going to play a lot at the 5. Or maybe they believe one of our returning 4’s can play small ball 5. Either way, we are going to get pushed around by teams with a physical inside presence
