2020 NFL Draft Thread - Day 3

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
His quarterbacks were atrocious.

I’d wager michigans talent development ability is also pretty underwhelming. The hope is that the Browns’ is not

This I can vouch for. The way they used Josh Uche alone was miserable.

He was 4th in uncatchable targets in all of college last year. We'll see, it's a decent gamble.

Yes, I acknowledged that in my post. But it is just tough to get excited about a receiver who did not produce at all in college. He is a great athlete, but we have seen great athletes have terrible QBs in college, get drafted, and do absolutely nothing in the NFL.

Again, it is a sixth-round pick, so I am not complaining at all. He is good on special teams and has potential. It's about as good of value as you are going to get.

This is the first draft in a while where I just seem we didnt get too fancy or cute and simply plugged wholes that needed to filled. We extracted a small ammount of extra value and still seemingly were able to get the players we wanted.

6th round pick, just take a swing on talent. I think he has a lot of it. Worst case, he seems like a potential long time contributor on special teams.

Yeah, I know. You pretty much responded to your own point here and I agree... its a sixth rounder. Nobody should be getting excited. But I am a fan of this pick, as much as I can be for a sixth.

Agreed, but he was a guy I did like as a deep sleeper. Good athletic profile, sub-20 breakout age, lots of dynamism...that's a great use of a day three pick. The lack of production is a definite red flag, but every guy this late is going to have flags.

Can anyone think of a receiver who didnt produce in college but did in the NFL? DPJ was in a bad situation and there has to be others that were in similar situations.

DK Metcalf to an extent but I think that might have been injury related.

Yeah, and DPJ has a lot to like that translate. At worst, he should be able to become a great red-zone target. He is strong so it is tough to break him on his routes and is a phenomenal jumper.

I am not complaining. I was complaining about the Jacob Phillips pick. But I am fine with this one. It's a good choice in the sixth round.

I don't recall, but it's crazy to think how much a system can affect your stock.

By the same token, should teams be worried about a guy like CeeDee Lamb?

In his entire career, he had the best offensive coach and system in the country, especially for a WR.

His QB's were:
Baker - Hesiman winner, #1 overall
Murray - Heisman winner, #1 overall
Hurts - Heisman runner up, National Champion, 2nd round pick

As a WR, how could anyone else ever again have a better set of circumstances? He's talented, but it's just crazy to think about.
