I mean, has anyone here never left a job for another job or opportunity which would pay more? I hate this attitude.
Cleveland was never going to pay him half the team's salary budget, and you wouldn't want that as a fan anyways. The amount of animosity it creates is insane, and for what amounts as a team sport, where clubs flourish as much on comradery as talent, it's best that CLE let him go (plus we received some nice talent in return), but to be mad at someone who is capitalizing on their talent? That's unruly.
I think some of the hard feelings toward Lindor aren't about him taking advantage of capitalism. He's not the first player to leave Cleveland for a fuck ton more money than we can pay him. It's about some of the things that have been said or come out since he left.... not working out last season which led to poor conditioning and shitty numbers, taking a nap during the rain delay during extra innings of a fucking game 7 of the World Series. It's the idea that he seemed like a nice, genuine kid (Mr. Smile) but the past 3 months he's been very Kyrie-esque.
Good for him on securing the bag but he's not worth it. His numbers have regressed the last few years and does not have that "clutch" gene. Maybe I'll be proven wrong but with the exception of the 2016 run and the grand slam against the Yanks in 2017 I can't recall too many moments where he came up huge for us.
