2021 RCF Mock Draft: Discussion, Trades and Miscellany

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Surprised Mac Jones made it to fifteen. Lots of QB hungry teams out there.

Fan community seems significantly less bullish than the NFL/pundits on Jones, IMO.

And that might also be true of their views on QB class in general.

What's a good resource for players in the draft that you all use? Database by position, overall rank kind of thing.

PFT, PFF, The Draft Network.

TDN is clunky if you don’t pay.

edit- CBS gives you positional I think 10 deep? Walter football is AWFUL but it gives you names (I usually use it as my starting point).

If you think Trey Lance isn't good, or isn't ready, then that's fine.

But the reasons you're using here are simply crutch arguments. Throwing a limited number of passes against D2 competition doesn't mean you can't be good, or that you aren't ready.

Also, Justin Fields's team almost beating Clemson doesn't mean anything about the individual prospect, or his potential for success in the NFL.

I also notice that you start out by claiming you want to talk about the topic, and not be personal, but you abandon that four words later.
Kid is a good athlete and has a nice arm that is really all you can say about him. NFL GMs have been using those crutch arguments for 50 years. He has never shown it against top talent and has very limited reps vs terrible talent. I am not drafting the kid 3rd overall with that resume. No way that kid is playing and winning in his 1st season in the NFL and probably his 2nd. Wentz had at least some resume with 600 throws. Can he lead a team to a SB after his 2nd year I dont know but he has the physical tools to do so. No clue if he has the mental skills to do it.

Playing Clemson tells GMs more about Fields than all of Lances game in division II. He played against a franchise changing qb twice with equal talent on both sides of the ball and probably should of beat him both times plus in the 2nd he put up incredible numbers. Competing against the best of the best means everything about the individual prospect and his potential for success in the NFL.

WTF are u talking bout abandoning that 4 words later Homeboy?? my joke about AZ. It was joke. LOL. Just breaking the ice.

homeboy(noun)

used as an INSULT to someone who didnt hang out on the streets and stayed home alot or wasnt cool at all(at least in the bronx thats how it was used).

I'm gonna need an explanation on that one @Jordan

I'm all for BPA, but did Washington really just use their first round pick on a DT who's going to compete with Ioannidis for third on the depth chart behind Payne and Allen?

I think Allen is not going to be on the team in a year and Ioannidis does not seem like a great replacement as a starter in a Rivera defense. Honestly, I find IDL to be really important, I really like Barmore, and my other choices were what I considered reaches at QB, WR, OT, and TE. Cornerback and linebacker are both bigger needs, but I rank Barmore higher than available cornerbacks and I just am against taking a linebacker in the first unless it is guy like Simmons last year, JOK this year, etc. Someone that is really versatile.

I support this entirely. iDL is so overwhelmingly undervalued, especially when it comes to depth.

My friend is a Football Team fan- he really likes Allen, but I agree. Not sure he’s getting an extension.

JOK is such a nice fit in Miami @Jack Brickman. I wouldn't be surprised if that's a real pick on draft day.

Yeah, it was hard to find a better combination of fit and value at that spot. I'd like to get a WR at some point, but none of the ones left on the board felt like a good value there.

He also fits in with my draft from last year, so bonus points.

Yeah, I live right outside of DC so I watch them pretty frequently. Allen is REALLY good. But I’m not sure he’s on the same timeline as they are and he’s going to be expensive. Similar move to what the 49ers did last year with Kinlaw.

On that note, Allen is available for trades

Atlanta looking to move into first from 35. anyone interested?

SAUCES: An AFC GM tells RCF reporters that the Steelers are evaluating options and strongly considering moving back from #24. The pick is very much available. This move may make sense for Pittsburgh as the roster was gutted while the team dealt with salary cap issues.

Steeler head coach Mike Tomlin took it a step further in declaring, "I'm a football guy. I like guys that play football. Anytime you can have have more guys that play football, its a good thing."
