2021 Season | Series #47 | Royals @ Indians | Sep. 20-22

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Ernie has the seniority.. that is for certain.. Rocchio and Freeman may have better talent for the spot.. but that won't be for 2022.. or at least at the outset.. Yu Chang is also in the discussion.. both him and Ernie..
I was not being serious...lol.

Richie Palacios has a couple words for you too.

Clement plays his guts out, but if he is a regular going forward.... Ugh.

I thought that Palacios was being moved to the OF or to more of a super utility role.. I just double checked my posting.. I have Palacios and Bracho as the next tier for talent/readiness after Clement...

Clase really has his slider working tonight.. he's going to blow away a LOT of ML hitters.. and some Royals too.. Clase closes out the Royals.. nice finish..

Ball Game..

The addition of Straw and Kwan's (for now) emergence kinda blocked Palacios out of CF and I think he is now a prime candidate to play 2nd base as a Guardian.

For 2nd base in 2022: Gimenez, Chang, Palacios. If Rosario sticks around, he'll stick at SS and if not Arias is ready to knock Andres out of the hole long term..

Lots of bodies a coming, like always who knows how it'll play out.

I suspect one of Clement or Chang get booted off the roster to make room for the rule 5... Pick your horse.

IMO Chang, Miller, and Clement are fighting for util spots/depth pieces. Palacios lack of defense puts him as a utility bat.

The position contest next year is lead by Gimenez at second.

The pecking order for 2023 for MIF is Gimenez, Rocchio, Freeman, Arias.

But some of these guys won't be in our org next spring.

Clement has looked excellent at both second and third this season, but defense has never been his calling card.

Actually he was defense before offense outside of his solid contact rate with little power...

He had 3 HRs total in the minors.... he has 3 in the majors...

What a night for Ernie - he saved two runs with his glove and contributed another with a homer, not to mention a single. He was worth at least three runs in a 4-1 win.

I'll be glad to see the last of Hunter Dozier. The guy is hitting under .220 but he is pounding the Indians. Can he play the outfield? Can we trade for him?

Quantrill with another excellent start with some defensive help by Clement and some very good positioning by the defense - there were several line drives right at someone.

The Indians got lucky on that slip by Benintendi in the first inning or this game would have been a lot closer.

Got a chance to get a split tomorrow but with Allen going I'm not optimistic.

Not to worry. Will probably be a rainout.

as an overall in the prospect listing.. I have Bracho as the 5th 2B'er.. and still a pretty good prospect..

What is your list? Based off of potential or MLB readiness?

Both.. it's posted in another thread..I'll find it..

here it is:

...there is a heirarchy of talent.. and a different order of readiness.. If you were to rate the Indians [infield] prospects in order of readiness/talent combined.. you might conclude:

1B 1st: Bobby Bradley 2nd: Johnkensey Noel 3rd Nolan Jones Else: Owen Miller
2B 1st: Tyler Freeman 2nd: Brayan Rocchio 3rd: Ernie Clement Else: Richie Palacios, Aaron Bracho
SS 1st: Gabriel Arias 2nd: Angel Martinez 3rd: Jose Tena Else: Carson Tucker, Tyler Freeman
3B 1st: Nolan Jones 2nd: Gabriel Arias 3rd: Gabriel Rodriquez Else: Milan Tolentino

On this list.. I could see an argument for:

-Rocchio over Freeman @ 2B..
& eventually,
-Angel Martinez over Gabriel Arias @ SS
-Nolan Jones over Bobby Bradley @ 1B
-Gabriel Arias over Nolan Jones.. @ 3B

I definitely do not agree with your listing, not gonna lie...

Freeman, Miller, Clement, Arias, Gimenez, Rocchio, Palacios, Tena, Martinez all play 2B... Bracho isn't ahead of any of those guys at the current moment depth chart wise.. and talent wise, the only one that hasn't been about equal to or above him rating wise is Clement in my mind..
