2022 College Football Season/Playoff Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Atlantic: Penn State, UVA, Duke, UNC, Rutgers, Maryland

East: Ohio State, Michigan, MSU, Notre Dame, Purdue, Indiana

West: Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, Northwestern, Minnesota, Nebraska

Pacific: USC, UCLA, Stanford, Cal, Oregon, Washington

There is it. That’s your super conference.

We are just losing divisions now and I don't know if that's the best way to structure it. The East is a bit of a bloodbath while the Atlantic would be ruled by Penn State with an iron fist most seasons, for instance. I prefer a model where there are some preserved rivalries and everyone plays each other on a reasonable basis, but there will be logictical hurdles regardless.

True maybe East/West is better. Or Leaders and Legends

Have to think this only helps OSU recruiting. After the SEC power play last year, this was a necessary counter punch.

I kinda want ND tbh.

Was listening to Buckeye Talk and they made a great point on this. Riley was set to become the king of the PAC and lock down California, now he's 2nd fiddle in a big boy conference and the walls around Cali come right back down.
Buckeye Talk is a great listen.

For as much as RCF craps on local reporters, Doug Lesmerises is a great local beat writer.

I listen to 'em from time to time but rarely read their stuff, probably should. I think I prefer them in the offseason because it's about recruiting and preseason hype, whereas during the season it's more about breaking down games that I already watched.

On the pod Stephen's scouting knowledge and Nathan's stat insight balances well with Doug's crotchety take guy demeanor.

I think Doug is a national treasure, but I agree you have to balance him with other voices.

Could see them adding Oregon, Washington, Stanford, and Notre Dame and giving us an even 20 teams. Stanford and ND has always been a bit of a rivalry, so they make sense. Oregon and Washington add two more west coast teams along with Stanford so that we've got five out there and those schools aren't constantly traveling out east.

Two ten team divisions:

East : Ohio State, Maryland, Rutgers, Penn State, Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue, Indiana, Notre Dame

West : USC, UCLA, Oregon, Washington, Stanford, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Iowa, Northwestern, Purdue

For the record, I'm also not a fan of adding these west coast schools, but I'm a traditionalist as well. If it's add USC and UCLA to avoid getting left behind, then I'm for it, it's just going to be weird for probably at least a decade. Would have rather tried to get more midwest schools like Iowa State, Notre Dame, etc. if we were going to expand.

@Stark
I guessing there was a typo as I see Purdue in each division and Illinois missing....

Seems a bit premature to be honest. I think it goes both ways. The Big 10 now has a school that can offer Midwest and East coast kids the chance to play and live in LA, hang out on the beach, and still play at least 5 games relatively close to home. USC also has deeper pockets when it comes to NIL and a larger market.

I don’t think it’s the slam dunk they’re making it out to be. Could be the opposite to a degree. I could see some of those Cali kids decide to stay at USC now that they’re in a bigger conference. It’ll be more competition for them, but they’ll also go in knowing they have a better shot to make it to the CFP based on SOS.
