Here’s what I think will happen with Sexton, we will offer 15M for 3/4 years, with the ideal he will be coming off the Bench and playing the Rubio role….
They will counter with 20M a year, and say the only reason he not a starter is because he got hurt….
We will counter that offer for around 17M a year, if he say no , we will say go bring us a offer……. if he can’t get one , he can play for the QO and bet on himself, which I think will be suicidal, because he will be coming off the bench, assuming no one get hurt for a extended time….
In theory this is great, but Sexton can’t play the role Rubio played because Rubio is a high-level facilitator and defends both guard positions well. They’re totally different players. If Sexton could defend and facilitate like Rubio, he’d probably be getting a max himself.
