Red Sox hit .336 this series. The G's are getting beat soundly at bat, in the field, and on the mound. Tough to watch.
What is obvious:
1. Gonzalez can't go back on a ball. When the ball is over his head he gets turned around, loses track of it, and waves helplessly as it sails over his head. He's much better coming in on fly balls. They should play him deeper.
2. Miller can't dig low throws out of the dirt at first base. He shouldn't be playing there.
3. Clement is an excellent defensive first baseman but he's no outfielder.
4. Amed Rosario will continue to strike out on sliders down and away for the rest of his career.
5. The Guardians can't hit lefties to save their lives.
6. The Red Sox are easily the better team. Other than Jose we don't have anybody who compares to Devers, Bogaerts, and Martinez. Their catchers have gone 5-for-11. The Guardians' catchers went 0-for-9. Their leadoff hitter is 6-for-14 with a walk. They've outscored the Guardians 18-7 in our house.
7. That being said, they're playing great right now, having won 18 of 22.
As for this game:
Tough luck for Civale as the infield hosed up two double plays on low throws by Gimenez and Miller being unable to catch them. Two of the runs he allowed should have been unearned.
More tough luck on multiple line drives right at Red Sox infielders.
Tito's priority was to have the team ready to take on the Twins. Naylor and Kwan were down and Tully got thrown to the wolves.
