2022 Season | Series #38 | White Sox @ Guardians | Aug. 19-21

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I’ve often wondered: is San Diego long-suffering, because they have the longest title-drought of any major city in North America? Or is it impossible to be long-suffering, in San Diego, because it’s 72 degrees and sunny every single day?
Yes.

The stadiums you're mentioning as "iconic" are generally iconic due to their history. Domed stadiums were obviously not a thing when most of these stadiums were built.

As much hate as it gets from some people for being "artificial" or whatever and even being considered for replacement, Rogers Centre has offered nothing but positive experiences to me and in general it's been still getting decent attendance. I think it's very easy to surpass Rogers Centre FWIW, not saying it's exactly the standard of excellence but what it offers is a consistent, reliable environment to play baseball in. But having been to Progressive Field and Yankee Stadium (both old and new) I don't really feel like I'm missing out on a whole lot when I'm in the retractable dome.
Here's another question: When it was built, Jacobs Field was considered one of the nicest parks in the league; now it is considered middling to below-average. What caused that to happen? Just so many other cities building nice, retro parks? I guess Cleveland was relatively early in the resurgence of retro ballparks (early-mid 90s). Still: Camden Yards is still considered one of the best parks in the majors. Why not The Prog? Is there nothing that unique about it? What is better about the the parks of the following teams?
- Detroit
- Minnesota
- Seattle
- Houston
- Texas
- Philadelphia
- Mets
- Nats
- Pittsburgh
- Cincinnati
- Milwaukee
- St. Louis
- Arizona
- San Francisco
- Colorado
- San Diego

SOME have unique features (SF: the bay; SD: integrated warehouse; PIT: the bridge). But is The Prog really that boring? What could have made it better?

....with $ 285 MM of public money put together with $ 150 MM of Guardian's ownership money, a massive total of $ 435 MM will be spent on renovating Progressive Field over the next 20 plus years.. The plans that have been shown indicate some neat stuff.. but no lid..err.. retractable roof.. So.. when it rains.. it pours... and will continue on into the future..

Such a great city, this, that, the third, but they sure lost their NFL team and could never sustain a NBA team :chuckle:.

That'll be the last city I'll go to and root for teams. All they have is a AFL championship lol. If I was a bum on the street though, what better place to be??

Bimbo starting shit again

In KC, Kopech gets pulled in the bottom of the first after 19 pitches. His velo is down about 4 MPH.

So far...

Walk, HBP, single, walk.

One KC run in.

Lambert comes in and gives up a bases loaded single.

2-0 KC

Bases loaded walk.

3-0 KC

Apparently, Kopech hurt his knee in warm-ups, but after the trainers and LaRussa looked at him, they let him start the game.

I would never.

It also appears the joke went over some heads.

Today is Drew Waters MLB debut for KC.

His first at bat he hit into a bases loaded DP.

Tough way to start.

Chicago scores three in the forth.
