Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I do think we acquire two players here soon. One a setup/backup closer and a veteran bat. Though in what capacity, I have no clue. We really won't know until we see it on twitter... lol
I'm not so sure Coach. What they need is a C that can hit while playing acceptable defense and an OFer that has some pop. Problem with that is acquiring either could block who they actually want to see when ready. I just don't know what they're going to do and I don't mind saying that.

A tidbit from MLBTr Chat:

Cleveland..10:09
I see this is Reynolds trade offer day. Cleveland offers Gavin Williams, Arias, Jones and a lower tier pitching prospect like Curry/Allen. Get it done?

Mark P..10:09
Not even close

boo hoo...

Good, Reynolds not worth that much, FOR pitcher, everyday SS, plus more.

And Pittsburgh actually wants MORE than that package...

Remember: their price in the offseason was Valera-Espino- one of Aries/ Rocchio plus 2 other pieces.
Since then I have had Reynolds crossed off my possible trade target list....

The cost for Josh Bell would be nowhere near as high, but there has been limited trade dealings with Mike Rizzo/ Washington by CLE...

Didn't we trade them Gomes?

Since 2005 (after the move from Montreal to Washington), the groups have made only 2 or 3 trades.
For me that fits the definition of "limited dealings"...

While I have heard that some teams struggle to make dealings with CLE (as CLE will set it's perceived cost & not budge), I have heard more often that Washington/ Mike Rizzo is difficult to make a trade with as he views every trade as something he "must win"..

the nats are one of three or four teams that CLE and others should avoid making deals with.. for various reasons:

Baltimore: ...has leveraged health issues to negate trades... during the fact..
Tampa: ...sends overhyped & talent limited players for guys you should hold onto..
Nats: ...dealing with a front office that is beyond reasonable..

There are others.. there are also teams that just work for the CleFO in trade negotiations.. Cincinnati, Arizona, St, Louis, Seattle.. etc..

Trading for a catcher isn't dependent upon hitting. Its dependent upon whether Hedges can play.

He is gonna see another concussion specialist, which is concerning.

**********

We are seeing some core pieces fall into place, and they won't be traded, unless the return is overwhelming...like a Reynolds type deal.

Kwan, Naylor, and Gimenez fall into that category.

*********

If the FO feels that Hedges is gonna be severely limited, due to his risk of damage from concussions, then a Contreras-Happ package makes perfect sense, due to our immediate needs and the time lines we have for our catching and OF prospects. And given the prospect depth we have at MIF, pitching, and corner bats, an overpay is not that bad of an idea. We have to trade some of them anyway.

We don't have room for all of Arias, Freeman, Rocchio, Tena, and Martinez. We don't have room for all of OGonz, Jones, Brennan, Valera, and Noel. We also don't have room for all of our present SPs plus Pilkington and Morris, plus Battenfield, Curry, Cantillo, Hankins, and Torres (R5 22), plus Espino, Allen, Bibee, and Williams...all either in Columbus now or next season.

The excess prospect capital is available to get about anybody the FO wants.

Oh I feel like a trade is coming at the trade deadline, but I have no clue for who...

I put up an odd trade, just to counter a trade someone else did on BTV....

Cleveland gets...
OF Gallo, SS Arias and LHP Sears

Yankees get...
SS Rosario, RHP Gaddis

I doubt that would happen, but I am taking it if I am Cleveland. New York spent a lot of money on Arias... lol

Arias = total stud.. absolutely the best prospect not names Jasson in the NYY system..

Gallo is a salary dump.. money needs to come with him..

Sears is an interesting lefty RP.. no more.. no less..

Do the deal if Gallo's salary is partially covered or add a defense first catcher (Antonio Gomez).. otherwise.. there is NO INTEREST whatsoever with Gallo...add a windmill to Franmill isn't going to help score more runs..

I am doing it for Sears and Arias. If I can get those two for Rosario, I am doing it. I am not against taking Gallo's contract for Arias... Gallo is a free agent at the end of the season anyways, so it would just be like we got Arias in the international signing is all...

Just thinking after watching an average AAA pitcher totally shut down the G's in his MLB debut.,,,,

Changes need to be made to the offense for sure. I'm not too worried about the pitching. The G's seem to find pitchers when they need them.

Most people would agree we are weak at C and OF right now. However, those positions might be filled next season by Valera and Bo Naylor. (But I don't expect them to come north right after next spring training).
But I also think we have a glaring need at 1B. I have never seen as many balls get passed our 1B as have gotten past this season. God bless Josh Naylor, but he's just not too agile over there. Josh would be a great DH.

I wonder what it would take to get Ryan Mountcastle from the Orioles. If you have to pay a heavy price, I might be more interested in Mountcastle than Reynolds. Wouldn't it be nice to have a 6'4" RH power hitting 1B? He can also play LF.

If they want young players - we've got 'em.

I looked at him earlier as a possible replacement target for Freddie in Atlanta if they didn't get Olson...

He isnt a good fielding 1B btw, but I do like his bat...

Quick reference say Baltimore needs pitching pretty badly in their farm, not a problem for us except if using BTV Mountcastle's value is very high. He won't hit Arbitration until 24...

It's likely Arias/Freeman, plus Allen and Burns to get Mountcastle... not something I would personally do...

So a top 5 prospect (one of Arias, Freeman or Rocchio) plus two of our top pitching prospects... type of deal (outside of Espino and Williams). I am not doing it unless the price is a lot less...
