Ben Simmons? Is he a fit basketball wise?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
What's all this talk about #3? We had #3 last month. Next year we're just as likely to have #8, or who knows. Plus there are always protections you can put on the pick.
If the deal involves Sexton, the pick, AND Love - I'd do it in a heartbeat.

The thread is from June when we had the 3rd pick and it wasn’t Mobley yet.

But it would also be idiotic to give next years unprotected first in a Simmons trade
Not really. I don't think we are a lottery team if we add Ben Simmons, so go ahead and unprotect the pick since it likely won't be lottery anyway.

Please don't trade Sexton for Simmons... We'll regret it big time.

I might live to regret it, but I’d trade Sexton & Love for Simmons. That’s absolutely as far as I would go though as the guy just carried too much risk otherwise.

The value on your proposal is tempting, but I still wouldn't do it.

I might add Osman, if the 76er want him
Osman is expendable. They could have him if they wanted him, as they'd be doing us a favor to take his salary off the books.

Personally, these are the things I would like to see in a Cavs deal for Simmons:

—Garland in the deal instead of Sexton. Sexton has the quality that counters Simmons’ weakness: he gets to the FT line and makes his FT’s at the end of games. Garland doesn’t yet have the the physicality for this role. It also eliminates the looming Klutch/Lebron factor. Philly gets the playmaker and secondary scorer they need. Sexton get paid as a Cavalier, hopefully for less than max dollars.

—KLove HAS to be in the deal to make the money work and remove him from the environment. IF he can regain a semblance of form, he will help Philly with defensive rebounding and floor stretching. No role for him in CLE. NO DEAL WITHOUT LOVE!

—A lottery protected FRP can be included.

—Hope to see a developmental wing or 2nd RP returned to Cavs in deal.

I would prefer the Cavs make no trade for Simmons. Potentially looking at Lindor on the Mets. But if CLE has to take Simmons to get rid of KLove, (primary motivator), then so so be it.

...except Ben Simmons is represented by Klutch...
Difference of course is that Simmons 2nd contract has already been resolved; he is signed for the next 4 years.

there is no evidence at all in Simmons career that he is capable of lifting the third worst team in the league into the playoffs
