Browns RB Nick Chubb, OL Wyatt Teller, and S Ronnie Harrison earn proven performance escalators (PPE) for 2021

Nick Chubb’s base salary for 2021 was originally set to be $1.487 million. His 2021 base salary is now $3.384 million, an increase of $1.897 million.

Wyatt Teller’s base salary for 2021 was originally set to be $920,000. His 2021 base salary is now $2.183 million, an increase of $1.263 million.

Ronnie Harrison’s base salary for 2021 was originally set to be $920,000. His 2021 base salary is now $2.183 million, an increase of $1.263 million.

How much do to but the following argument:

Of all the positions on defense, Browns are least likely to try and add a starry S, because they are ok with Harrison and Delpit, as opposed to every other position, where they could use a new starter.

Not sure they can make a confident declaration on Delpit being a no questions asked every snap starter without having seen him on the field yet post injury.

Regardless though, Woods has repeatedly said how much he would like to prefer to eventually play a full-time dime system (essentially a 4-1-6) with 3 safeties on the field at all times.

Well earned for all three of them, and especially Teller since he basically came out of nowhere and crushed it.

A perfect use for the rollover cap!

I think this week will be the start of some trading.

With the current cap situation and Browns internal business they need to take care of, I really don’t expect a significantly large spending spree... I think they likely lock up one to two significant defensive contracts (perhaps a DE and a DB) but otherwise, I would expect mostly one-year deals or short term deals with early outs.. I think Berry is cognizant of the salary cap and wants to maintain flexibility to some extent, especially to keep our own..

I would also be quite shocked if the Browns splurge at LB, just doesn’t seem to be in the FO’s DNA...

I don't want them to go crazy but Lavonte David does make a ton of sense on a shorter deal, like 2 years, if possible. Would be a great add as far as talent and experience goes while adding leadership to our young LB core. Phillips, Taki, Wilson, and any potential draft pick(s).

Trey Hendrickson scares me as someone they could spend big money on. There's sooo many options out there and guys who come out of nowhere and have career years in a contract year always worry me. But I'll admit I didn't watch much of him so maybe someone here did and can talk me into him.

Whatever they do at LB they need somebody who can reliably cover tight ends.

That's been obvious since Mahomes and Kelce destroyed us in 2018. The ability of a tight end to abuse us on shorter/intermediate routes opens up the entire rest of the opponent's offense. Because either we end up stripping away assets from elsewhere to stop the TE, or they kill us with high percentage passes that go for 10-15 yards a pop.

Bucs using those fast LB's to limit the damage done from those routes was essential to their success in stopping Mahomes.

Hard to argue that none of them earned it especially Chubb and Teller. The fact Chubb is still only 3.4 and Teller 2.2 is insane production for what they get paid.

I forget where I read it, but I heard that Jaylon Smith (Dallas) might be released? Anyone else hear that and think the Browns could/may be interested?

Haven’t heard that. Guess it would depend on the price. Dallas fans complain about him a lot.
