I forget where I read it, but I heard that Jaylon Smith (Dallas) might be released? Anyone else hear that and think the Browns could/may be interested?

A guy with a bad knee at 25 is not even close to being good enough for the Browns.

FYI, it was Zac Jackson who wrote about it because I read it last night. Just goes to show that even though the Browns are good, the coverage doesn't get better.

furthermore, the Oline for the browns isnt exactly a weak link. In fact its very easily is a top 3 Oline in the NFL, and they are paid like it (i think we have the projected number 2 paid O-Line in the NFL going into next year). If the browns are going to be spending more money on the line it should be to keep Teller around

Doubt Baker gets that much. I think highly of Dak though and glad he still got paid despite the injury.

If Baker continues to get better and we somehow manage to make the playoffs again or even better, win the division, he’s getting that or more.
Add in Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen already accomplishing these feats and also needing new contracts, we will be lucky to get off that easily.

Jerry wouldn't pay it if he wasnt making it. Hopefully this is just the tip of the iceberg, esp with all the new money flowing in with that monster tv deal. Would rather see it distributed more evenly but this isn't socialism it's a free market. Good for Dak, now he just has to decide where he really wants to play and be ready to demand his trade in a year or two.

I'm not sure a single sentence in this comes close to making sense.

"Jerry wouldn't pay it if he wasn't making it"? The NFL has a hard cap, and every team pretty much spends it. Either they spend it now, or they're rebuilding and building up their rollover, which they'll eventually use. Dak's contract has absolutely nothing to do with the revenue of the Dallas Cowboys. This isn't the NBA, where the owner's pocketbook matters. This isn't the MLB where market revenues matter. This is a hard-capped sport where every team either spends, or is saving for a competitive advantage so they can spend more.

The deal is signed now... it has nothing to do with a future increase in cap due to a minor increase in TV revenue. In fact, it's coming in a down-cap year. With the way Dallas has fucked around with Dak for a few years, there was no hometown discount left. He had them by the short hairs. It was either sign Dak for a deal like this, or leave that team gutted without a QB.

I have no idea what your socialism/free market comment is about (You know, free markets exist within socialism... might want to understand the terms before you use them. As far back as the 1800's, people were arguing for socialism because it would result in a freer market than the current alternatives, but I digress*). Obviously QB's get paid. They have the highest impact on the team.

If you think Dak is demanding a trade within a year or two, I don't think you have any idea of the kind of person he is.

*If you actually want to talk about it, come on over to the politics section. If you don't care to talk about it, but want to read more, you could start with the wikipedia entry and go from there: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_market#Socialism "Early notable socialist proponents of free markets include Pierre-Joseph Proudhon, Benjamin Tucker and the Ricardian socialists. These economists believed that genuinely free markets and voluntary exchange could not exist within the exploitative conditions of capitalism."

Sincerely, Deshaun Watson .
Care to explain how this is relevant?

The two men are not the same.

Also, no other organization in football is like the Houston Texans right now. They, currently, are worse than the Browns have been in the past 26 years (Yes, counting '95-'99)

Oh, I don’t know. Signs long term mega deal, says he loves the city, the team, appreciates the owner and front office.
A year later, hates them all and wants out.
Watson is, was, known as a good guy, much like Dak.
You said Dak isn’t like that to demand a trade, but Watson was??
Dallas very well may not be good and it’s not uncommon now to demand a trade after signing a big money deal.
