My question regarding Kareem is "Why now?"
It was his birthday wish?My question regarding Kareem is "Why now?"
I'm sure he has been wanting this extension for months now but you're hearing about it now more than ever because he's "holding in" at camp which is bringing attention to his situation. My question regarding Kareem is "Why now?"
We don't know that. And even a 3 yr $21m deal w/ $11m gtd (Fournette extension) is pretty significant for a backup RB when the Browns FO has been handing out big money extensions left and right. I think Kareem Hunt is a luxury that the Browns cannot afford beyond this year. I think the Browns would sooner ship him out for a late round pick before extending him, personally. We don’t know that. Hunt is a pro bowl level RB who lead the league in rushing. You sure we have that 4th on our depth chart? I’m sure he’s not demanding some crazy number. Probably just similar to what he’s making right now just extending a few more years. That’s not really taking away from the rollover.
If it’s a late round pick were better off just keep him this year. He’s more valuable to us this season then a 6th round pick. Plus we’d get a comp pick.I'm sure he has been wanting this extension for months now but you're hearing about it now more than ever because he's "holding in" at camp which is bringing attention to his situation.
From his perspective, he's 27 with 1 year left on his contract coming off a season where he only played in 8 games.

I'm not sure at all what you mean by this.I’m curious to see how Anthony Walker has progressed, actually disappointed so far.
It might be how Wood’s defense runs; this defense doesn’t excite me currently.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Hunt has been waiting to get paid like a top-20 NFL RB again since he was cut by KC. He's been a "good soldier" and all that for years now--I don't blame him at all for finally saying enough is enough.I'm sure he has been wanting this extension for months now but you're hearing about it now more than ever because he's "holding in" at camp which is bringing attention to his situation.

I don't think it's fair to call Hunt a "clear #2."I get why a “hold-in” is now a thing, but it seems way worse than a hold out. At least with a hold out, the player is away from the team. With a hold-in, the player is there, just not doing anything. Seeing that as a player - I could see why it wouldn’t bug them **that** much as they get the business side too. But as a coach? I can’t see them easily compartmentalizing that when it’s literally in front of their face. In particular with Hunt, given his history, but even moreso the fact he is a clear number 2… he’s doing a hold-in with no leverage.
Trading Hunt is going to be a very fine needle to thread.
That's unfortunate to hear about Hunt, feel like this ends with him being traded for a 6th before the start of the season. I don't think his role is as easily replaceable as others, but at a certain point you have to make some cuts when you've given big money extensions to Watson, Garrett, Bitonio, Teller, Ward, and Chubb
I think Hunt is more productive with touches than Ford.I am pretty confident that the Johnson, Ford, Felton trio could replace Hunt.
