But the passing and playmaking for others remain the swing skill that could push him into the stratosphere.

The final sentence in Vecenie's assessment. In fact, Sexton's assists are up 40% over last year. Every off-season he works his butt off to add something to his game. Barring injury he should be an All-Star in a year or two. So far this year he's shooting 48.5% overall and 39.4% on 3's.

Sexton is such a maniac. I don't think he's reached his peak yet.
Most young NBA millionaires would be out partying after tonight's win.

I love his work ethic and his motor. I wonder how much he needs to learn is truly teachable. I think the personality traits that make him such a hard worker might also inhibit him from ever truly understanding how to fit into an offense. I think what our guards need is much more offensive accountability, by that I mean less freedom to call plays and more bespoke design to control their movements. Collin is a play finisher at the moment not a playmaker and any time the ball is in his hands at the start of the offense we grind to a halt. We needs our sets to end with him catching the ball on the weak side or off motion then his shot is at its highest value because we have had the chance to get others touches

This dude is the NBA’s Rogers Hornsby.
One slight difference. Hornsby said he would stare out the window all winter waiting for spring. Sexton would have been tossing up wadded up balls of paper and hitting them against the walls. Like two thousand times a day.

After the game Lamar Stevens gave Sexton props for passing him the ball on the final play.

"We want to be the hardest playing team and want to be the most unselfish team every single night. That goes to Collin, being the lead scorer, a guy who a lot of guys look to, he trusted me."

Sexton also had a comment on the winning bucket.

“I was like, ‘Yeah, let me give this one up,’ because everybody knew I was going to shoot it,” Sexton said.

As opposed to Trae Young who was in the same position a few seconds earlier and forced up a shot that missed and opened the door.

As for the comment that being an extremely hard worker could "inhibit him from ever truly understanding how to fit into an offense", I couldn't disagree more. I can't imagine Bickerstaff ever saying, "Collin, you need to back down and stop practicing so much. It's inhibiting you from truly understanding our offense".

I agree he's effective operating without the ball, running off screens and catching passes, but he's also good at initiating the offense by beating his man off the dribble. When both Garland and Sexton are on the floor I notice they each take some turns initiating the offense. I don't know if they want to give the defense different looks or they just want to stay fresh and let the one guy handle the ball when the other needs to catch his breath.

You misunderstood me. I'm not saying his work ethic stops him understanding. I'm saying his personality traits that provide him with a singular focus and determination are the result of natural proclivities that may make it hard for him to fully grasp the benefits of different decisions ie offensive flow etc..

Kobe had the same focus and determination and at his peak, averaged 5.4 assists, much more than most point guards and the one knock on him is he's a "ball hog". i'm seeing the same reactions to collin.

Thing I took from his interview is he is feeling better. Said his legs are back and it seemed like it. Was able to put on the jets a couple of times and had a nice dunk.

They needed a poor defensive team to get into some rhythm.

I've never seen a young player that has the work ethic like Sexton's.

Sexton is 7-1 against Trae Young.

It's 6-2

They've only played 7 games in the NBA and Sexton beat him in college...

College 1-0
Rookie season 1-2
Second season 2-0
Third season(this season) 2-0

Thanks for the clarification. That said, 4-0 in the last 2 years is still impressive.
