I feel like you have to build around Sexton rather than either Garland or Okoro. He is the best player of the three and the only one that looks like he could be a top 3 guy on a championship team. Does not make sense to me to shotgun your team so you could build around DJ Augustin because it is "easier." Sure it might be easier but your ceiling is high lottery. Sexton pushes the ceiling above that.

I've said this many times, this team needs to pick up the pace. Sexton is the fastest player on the team yet we have don't use it often...When,the team does go on a fastbreak it's usually him and Cedi that's doing it.

I wish JB use Sexton's speed and Garland's shiftiness more ofen.

rebounding needs to be better. Can't run if you don't rebound.
Also, I like Garland's game, but he plays a slow game and then uses a change of pace to get defenders off balance. You'd think the pace of play would be higher given that we are almost always in a small line up.

Allen yes, but can a team build around an undersized shooting guard?

The conditions necessary to make that work may be a bridge too far for a franchise like the Cavs.
Why not? We need a big play-maker next to him, but the Jazz, Nuggets, and Blazers have built great teams around undersized 2s. Hell, the Cavs & Warriors won championships with 6'2 Kyrie and 6'3 Steph, both who I see as more natural 2s.

At his peak, I think Sexton can be a really good No. 2 option for a great team. High volume, high efficiency scorers don't just grow on trees.

Beyond their size, really the difference in pace that Garland and Sexton wants to play hinders their pairing the most. JBB has probably been the worse of the coaches in trying to find lineups to compliment Sexton's willingness to push the pace.

One thing Cedi actually did pretty well in was run in transition with Sexton and that has pretty much gone from the offense. I'm actually surprised that JBB hasn't tried to find a lineup that would get Sexton, Cedi, and 3 others out running and trying to tired out teams.

I think Garland can play at a faster pace than he is whereas Sexton has a difficult time slowing down

I prefer Garlands slow game which reminds me a bit of Chris Paul’s style rather than going full speed like John Wall and Sexton and not finding teammates for easy buckets

Sexton has shown he can set up in the half court, garland hasn't shown he can speed up

4 players in NBA 26 and under that average more than 20 ppg and shoot >47 from field and >37 from three. And most on here want to make him 6th man or trade him..........

Try running that search for different seasons to see how rare that scoring goes with those percentages for younger players.

Sexton’s biggest issue is his shot selection.

It’s why despite being a good shooter, who gets to the FT a decent amount, his TS% is league-average and his eFG% is slightly below.

He’s just shooting too many shots inside the arc, and he’s not big enough to score at a high enough rate on those shots to positively impact the game.

I don’t even particular care where the blame lies, I just know it’s something that needs fixed.

FTR Donovan Mitchell's TS% and eFG% are both worse than Sexton's this year and last. He gets by all right.

I'm honestly not a big fan of Donovan Mitchell, but if we can get to a point where we have 9 guys in our rotation scoring more efficiently than Sexton (as the Jazz do with Mitchell) then I do believe we'll be fine.

Call me crazy for thinking it's not great to commit a large percentage of your possessions to league-average offensive efficiency, especially when the player in question has the ability to be so much more efficient.

Well, right now we have 6 guys, not counting Sexton, who have a higher eFG% than Mitchell. (Allen, Nance, Wade, Windler, McGee, and Garland.)

Not sure why we’re comparing guys to Mitchell. I really don’t care about him at all. He’s like the 4th or 5th most important player on the Jazz.

It’s not a bad thing that I think Sexton is capable of more. It’s a good thing!

You're right. I'll quit.
