This isn’t something that shows up on BB Reference (at least I’ve never seen it there) but the ability to take and make shots at the death is perhaps the most valuable single attribute an NBA player can have. Anybody can score in the second quarter during January but when the game is on the line and the pressure is on you need an assassin.

Dame at the top of this list is no surprise. Dude is cold as fuck. Much, much respect for him as a player and a guy that stuck with his team.

Good to see Collin so high on this list.

Cool to see Sexton on the clutch list. He's truly been fearless this season.

I'm surprised to not see the hometown kid Rozier on the list. He's been making big plays throughout the season, and did it again tonight. He's been much more fun than I think the general consensus expected when Charlotte gave him the huge contract.

It doesnt factor in turnovers though, see pacers game when he somehow lost control of the ball and it ended up in the back court

Cavs were like 5-1 in games tied in the last minute or something and they are 4 games over projections. Those 5 clutch games basically account for all their wins over expectations. That is cool as hell.

Do they have any overtime losses?

Sexton's ability to take shots when he is tired or I guess the fact he doesn't get tired even in double overtime games has big playoff implications. I said the best thi g that could happen is getting to the play in and losing one of those games. Will he lose a game like that?

All we need to do now is not get blown out every second night so Collin can actually take these shots :chuckle:

Cavs 3-0 in overtime.

Philly was 2-0 in overtime before they lost to us. Philly is also good at winning close games.

But Sexton committed a turnover against Indiana so none of the clutch scoring in other games matters. Sexton was 32-10-4-3 against Indiana which should have quieted those who harp on his lack of rebounding and assists but he committed six turnovers so his game was trash and he’s responsible for the loss. No slack is cut even though we didn’t have a legit PG to face a tough defender.

Some people are fully invested in the ”Sexton isn’t a PG and a 6-1 SG won’t work so he’s doomed to be a sixth man” narrative. Narratives are impervious to facts or new information so we’ll keep hearing the same crap for Sexton’s entire career in Cleveland which I expect will be a long one.

2 of their best wins in overtime. The indiana loss was frustrating. The cavs obviously played better, but turnovers ruined it.

I really don't care because otherwise they played great and Collin should have had 7 more fouls shots.

I think this first half has proven proof of concept for this team. They literally need reps and nba experience now

I'm willing to say that the Cavs have two long-term pieces they can build around now in Sexton and Allen.

Allen coming into the fold has made life a lot easier. A legitimate rim protector who is efficient on low usage offensively is a necessity to pair with a small, high volume guard.

I'm not ready to say Garland is going to be around forever yet. Same goes for Okoro.

I think both will have legitimate roles in the NBA for a long time, but there's a chance that it's simply not with the Cavs.

No thanks. I dont think one is clearly superior to the other but I would much rather take the guy who embraces the city and has that next level work ethic.

At the end of the day....you get a guy like Sexton at #8 who is already putting up an efficient 24-5 and has continuously improved every facet of his game year to year because he probably works harder than 99% of the league....a guy I could see putting up 30-6 on 50-40-90 in his prime...a guy who shows up in big games and moments and never backs down to anyone...and a guy who completely embraces your small market city...and after a rough first year now gets along with and is respected and loved by his entire team...

To get that kind of a player at #8 after trading away Kyrie at what was supposed to be the beginning of his prime is a slam dunk/home run/ absolutely a killer pick by Koby Altman. (I think Altman made a similarly impressive pick with Darius Garland the following year as well...and if Garland can make that vaunted year 3 and 4 leap for young guards....another stud)

I mean, considering many people were extremely down on Sexton after his rookie year(a lot of misdirected anger due to Bron leaving that wasnt his fault...some was his gfault but he owned up to it and fixed it)...its kind of amazing where he;s at now..

You'll never catch me complaining about taking Sexton at 8 given his current production. It deserves a lot of praise if anything. Kid is a beast.

Then w/ all due respect, you think wrong. Shai is clearly the superior player.

Allen yes, but can a team build around an undersized shooting guard?

The conditions necessary to make that work may be a bridge too far for a franchise like the Cavs.

I don't think it's that hard for the Cavs to partly build around Sexton. A tall PG fixes alot of issues or even a good ball handling SF. I do think Koby needed to account for it in the drafts after getting Sexton. Garland and Okoro aren't the players to pair with Sexton. I actually think Garland and Okoro as a backcourt is harder to build around. If Okoro is our starting SG, we now need more shooting like a stretch 5 and probably still need a ball handling SF to be the secondary ball handler.

The Okoro pick should have been about flexibility to be able to pivot just in case Sexland didn't work. Okoro just complicates an already complicated backcourt. A Garland/Okoro or Sexton/Okoro backcourt doesn't make it easier to to build out this roster and that's the flaw in Koby's plan or lack of a plan.
