No way they can keep up defense with Sexton and Garland. But both might start, to get their trade values high as possible. Thats a back court that gives team 1st round exit at best.

At this point I'd take the first round exit. Let's just get to the playoffs first.

I think we're talking semantics to a large extent. I'd believe that Sexton does not have a lot of "friends" on the team because he's a very intense kind of guy who seems somewhat single minded. But I also don't think he's "hated", or affirmatively "not liked", so that's why LNJ said what he did.

I'm usually not one to draw a lot from videos, but it was interesting to see how well he meshed with Barnes. I think Sexton really needs to be paired with a strong alpha type on his team to keep him going in the right direction, and we just don't have that. Nobody else really matches his intensity, so he follows his own lead. I do think strong on-court leadership is one thing we're lacking in the current roster. I think Sexton would even look better with a Calderon-esque kind of guy.

I agree 100% ... unfortunately I think the days of Sexton in Cle are numbered (because of the Mobley ) drafting. UNLESS they show intense chemistry on the court.

Game did run smoothly with no Collin. I think it is worth looking at. I really don't feel like Collin lost the team a bunch of games last year. He seemed content to play secondary guy when other guys were going off, so how he plays on the this team will be interesting.

I will say that the team looks like it might actually be pretty darn good defensively. I do worry if they can keep up that level of D when both Darius and Collin are playing.

Darius looked great tonight. This is going to be an interesting season.

Allen could be used as a future trade bait and a very good backup in the mean time. I don't see it as a problem. Porzingis is an upgrade. A center that can protect the rim and shoot is valuable in this league.

KP has been nothing short of an absolute liability ever since he got injured. I mean if you look at his contract and what Dallas gave up to get him you would think he would have been an all star the past 3 seasons.
He was on track to become elite early on, now he is an afterthought that Dallas would trade for Kevin Love and a couple 2nds in a heartbeat just to get off his contract.
Sexton is NOT getting traded for some bum that plays a position that they are loaded at. If they trade anyone it better be for a starting SF and nothing less.

Dallas could use Sexton as 2nd scoring option behind Luka, and Colin would be a PG on defense there, so being undersized not a problem . Is Sexton and Love for Porzingis a good trade for both teams ? Kristaps would be a good fit next to Mobley. A stretch 5 would open up the floor for the rest of the team.

We’ve all seen the SexLand backcourt really doesn’t work and I can see the Cavs trading Sexton before Garland. If the Cavs aren’t gonna extend Sexton then we could see a trade, even in the coming days.

You can always find a new home for Allen. And a lot of people are skeptical about the non shooting front line of Allen and Mobley, add to that Okoro and there's a problem there. Replace Allen with Porz and maybe you can squeeze Okoro in that lineup. Ideally you need to combine shooting, defense and good length and size. I'd avoid playing multiple 6'1 players that can't defend to save their lives.

Not at that paycheck you cannot, and this notion that zinger is a reliable player at the 5 living on the perimeter is ridiculous really. How many games has he played in the past 3 years ? 100? I just don't see fair value with his contract being longer than Love and not bringing much of anything on the court more than Love does already besides a longer contract and slightly better defense. I think you are either severely undervaluing Sexton, don't like him, or are not a Cavs fan at all to suggest they trade him in a deal like this. Which btw would have happened if the Cavs were interested in using Sexton to get off Loves deal. They aint

Garland has no trade value so yes they could trade the better player in Sexton but beyond that nope they will not be trading him even if there is no agreement on his extension and he plays for RFA offer sheets. They might trade sexton at the deadline IF Garland has the premature projection of breaking out so many are hoping for, but if his preseason is any indication he won't.
