Derek Jeter

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Funny thing is...I was just down at the Winter Meetings all week in job discussions with a few teams.

My best option to date??....The Yankees.

How much does my soul cost??...We'll see.

It appears I might be the only free agent New York can land this offseason, because the Rangers are trying like all holy hell to keep Cliff Lee.
You'll be kissing Jeter's golden ass sooner than later...

I'll save you a seat on the bandwagon...

I'm more of a Robbie Cano guy myself....

Just wanted to revisit this thread. 30 games in and all I hear on ESPN is how Jeter should be benched or at the bare minimum dropped to 8th or 9th in the lineup.

Jeter is hitting a remarkable .250 this season with a whopping 2 extra base hits (2 doubles) and an OBP of .308.

What a BRILLIANT SIGNING by the Yanks. Must be nice to be able to throw a shit load of money at guys that are now utility players.

Just wanted to say what a steal the Indians got with Jack Hannahan. I mean the guy is putting up 1000% the production of Jeter at 1/17th the cost. What a steal.

He has absolutely no control over this one....

Any other GM would have had to make a tough decision on Jeter last off-season. One that would have been unpopular with the fans, but maybe the right thing to do for the team. The Yankees can afford to pay him if he's a liability. He could sit on the bench for a few weeks, then come back and maybe put up a few numbers. What a luxury.

I think back to Shapiro, and his decision to trade CC, Lee, Martinez, etc., and I have no sympathy for Cashman.

But in the end, you are correct. NY fans would have rioted if Jeter wasn't re-signed. Or they would have severely splashed their latte's in Cashman's general direction. Whatever NY fans do.

Jason Donald for Jeter take it or leave it

I gotta agree with b00bie here, even if he is just being a company man. :chuckles:

The Yanks had no choice but to keep Jeter- he is Mr. Yankee and next to Mo he represents the Yankees' championship runs of the 90s and the good-but-only-occasionally-world-class teams of the 00s. The guy is up there in the Yankees pantheon with the likes of Mantle, DiMaggio, Gehrig, Ruth, etc. It would have been a sin, imo, to have let him leave. The Yanks have the resources to keep him around, even keep playing him, and be successful- not to mention they have no internal replacement available nor was there one available on the FA market. Eventually, Jeter will get fed up with his own play and work out either a position change or acquiesce to a benching. And yes- I think at this point in his career he has earned that right. He is one of the rare exceptions here.

Toeing the company line...really just trying to remain as vague as humanly possible on the matter. :king:

Calm down....Indians fans are in no position to start sticking their chest out...

Indians lose 8 outta 10 and it will be due to this thread...

Me neither ? But, the consensus around here would suggest that you're a lame fucktard who tries to be funny but would probably be better off just going away...

Anywho, Tribe loses today and LORD JETER homered twice....

<s>Silly Rabbit, Trixx are for kids </s> Silly Tribe fans, smack talk is for Champions...:king:
