Early 22 GM Thread! (Trade Ideas here)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yes, you’d be hung up on quickly.

Trust me, Cleveland called about him both at the deadline and this past week.

It’s going to cost considerably more than that just to get the conversation started.

Perhaps the conversation w/r Bryan Reynolds should be tabled for a while.. like three years..

Pittsburgh is making him available.

But the asking price, rightfully for a 27 year old who just posted a 6 WAR 142 wRC+ season and is under team control for 4 more seasons, is astronomical.

Well well well..

If you could swing a deal that keeps Espino and one of Rocchio/Freeman... I am tempted to say do it. Odds are Espino would be required in a deal though IMO.

I said why, we would lose a 6+ WAR player and majority of the return will not be proven MLB players. We may get one, Guirrel type (2-3) WAR and the rest of the players likely will be unproven in the bigs.

Now I could be dead wrong on how the guys do in the bigs but I cannot say on paper we will have a better team in 22 since we will have less proven MLB talent. You almost always go backwards trading an All-Star...

About C, can you name another C in our minors?
OK, this is the last I'll say about this because we're talking in circles due to the simple fact that you cannot accept the idea that you have no f'n clue what the return would be or how it would effect the roster. We can't even argue about it because I don't know either. Hell, you don't even know that JRam is going to produce 6 WAR in 22. Stranger things have happened.

Did we go backwards trading Clevinger or Bauer? How far backward did we go trading Lindor when comparing his season to Rosario's?

Logan Ice is who comes to mind quickly. The Rodriguez kid too. None are at the level of Lavastida or Naylor, but there are other C in the system Coach. It wouldn't surprise me to see them pick one up in the R5 either. Good defensive/poor hitting catchers like we've had can be picked up inexpensively. Toronto is being overran with C so maybe they take one off the roster.

Glad the discussion did not further progress. Not selling the heart of the farm for any one player.
Absolutely! If these guys were further away and not expected to progress quickly then maybe, but hell to the no right now.

We didn't go backwards after Bauer or Clev because we had talent to replace them already there, plus we have been good at producing pitching...

When have we been able to properly produce hitters with a consistent basis?

And you have no clue who is in our system catching wise and we constantly talk about our farm system. %'s say only having one prospect in a position of importance is a very, very bad move and since we haven't even address getting more depth at catching from that standpoint trading Naylor would not be a very smart move that way. Lavastida and Naylor are honestly on the shortlist of almost untouchable...

The other thing I stated, if we trade Plesac or JRam we can easily address catching depth organizationally, but at the current moment only having 1 with big league experience, then the ones with MLB experience are older and the two catching prospects we have with no time above AA, trading one just doesn't make a ton of sense to me... (to bad it's not MLB the Show were we can switch someone to C without any issue since moving Chang/Kwan would make life so much easier on us haha).

You act as if trading Ramirez would be just claiming such and blindly getting back whatever some other team wanted to give. There are expectations and needs that have to be met in any trade or it doesn't happen. Since we don't know what the return could be then we don't know how it would effect the 22 season. The real question is why I'm trying multiple times to justify the idea of trading JRam to you when I don't even think it will happen. Nor do I want it to at this time.

Dude, Bo Naylor is at least 2 yrs away and C is not an overall strength of Cleveland's system right now. So having only 1 MLB C isn't going to be helped by having Lavastida in Columbus and Naylor in Akron. Another C is an absolute need for 22 and if I can get a good C like Kelly in a trade that involves Bo Naylor then I do it without hesitation. That's a no brainer unless you're in rebuild mode. There's time to add C prospects at a later date. We need the help in Cleveland, not Akron.

I keep saying we are going to resign Perez/Sign a Gomes, but we still need to keep our only two actual prospects...

Also is the Kelly you are talking about Carson Kelly from the D-Backs? He honestly is okay, but I'd rather just have Gomes back in Cleveland... Gomes still plays a much better defense. The only think Carson does better than most players is take walks...

I hope they intend to move on from Perez. I wish him the best though.

I think signing Gomes is a long shot because there will certainly be several teams bidding on him and that never works out for Cleveland.

Kelly is better than you're giving him credit and is just entering his prime. He's owed $3M in 22 and isn't a FA until 25.

I still like the idea of acquiring Stassi too.
