East is getting tough!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Unfortunately we have no ammunisition for comeback to that post from Ron Artest. They will start the season likely with their full squad of whom the core are still improving. Artest, O'Neal and Jackson all still have upside, whilst they might also get a timely boost out of Sarunas. We have made up some ground, but we should not be considered near their level until we actually prove something oncourt.

Indeed Karma indeed. It all will happen on the court next season. In the PAST, Indiana has been far better than the Cavs. No question. But NOW, with Hughes and Marshall and hopefully another strong piece, I like our chances against the best! And no one can underestimate The King!!! He is Greatness Incarnate! And now he's got his running mate! I am a homer, and I will believe in the Cavaliers always. It will be decided on the court. (but I still gotta talk trash)

this pacers dude is killing me!!!

i will admit, i was on the bucks board last season to get the status on redd, there are some intelligent posters there.. tj is my dude, he is alright in my book... btw, he is alot smarter then he has shown on here...
FordFan knows what i am talking about (i took some serious heat, but i wasn't a troll on their board..)
but i had a reason to be there..(upcoming free agency, redd status)

i imagine when the bucks have the combined 200+ wins that the cavs, bulls, pacers, and pistons will have stacked up sitting on the bucks 35 win chest (he will be begging for air)

i don't have a problem with anybody on this board, however, the pacers dude has me confused ? ;)

what the hell are you doing here brother ?

is it a division thing ?

by all means, stick around-- but i was wondering, what interest you about "THE GREAT CLEVELAND CAVALIERS" ?

like i said the pacers board is down the hall 3 doors on the left ...the one with vern fleming sticking his arm out...

"so what's going on at the pacers forum" ? please tell us

and where in the hell are the piston fans at ? they are the only fans that can back it up!!!!!!!!!!

OH YEAH, "GO CAVS"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ron Ron,

If you have indeed been giving it to the Cavs, once again the Bucks will keep you in check. I take it you remember the Ford rookie game in Conseco. :chuckles: When the Pacer players were interviewed after the game, they unanimously agreed that it was TJ Ford who beat them. He ran circles around the Pacers. I specifically remember a backcourt trap that J.O. and some scrub point gaurd tried to execute on a speeding TJ. Well, TJ proceeded to split the double (through the 2 foot crack they left him) while simutaneously wrapping the ball behind his back without missing a beat. The two Pacers were left standing in their tracks watching TJ motor upcourt like  . Expect more of the same.

I hope the Bucks meet the Pacers in round one. Seriously, we in Milwaukee don't see how your able to beat all of these other teams so frequently. We've got your number and we're going to continue kicking your tails. Ain't nuthin' changed but the date. Oh yeah, if we haven't dominated you guys enough recently with Gadz at center, wait until he slides over to gaurd J.O. at power forward to relieve Joe and Zaza of their duties. Bogut v Dale Davis? Foster? Redd, TJ, Simmons, Mason, Kukoc, Mo.....like I said, more of the same. Seeing the Pacers on our schedule is like easy money. For real.

Lebron's_Pippen,

I didn't come here to "troll" on this board. My intention is never to bash the Cavs or any of the true homers that live here (they know who they are). However, I will always defend my Bucks wherever, whenever. I don't have a bitter disdain for Ohio. Lebron James is bigger than just Ohio so there will always be interest in his team and what he's doing (we are curious about the Jay-Z angle). I couldn't post on a Chicago board. The feelings are too bitter. Wisconsin and Ohio don't have to many natural rivalries so things tend not to get too personal. Packers/Bucks/Brewers v Browns/Cavs/Indians. Not much there. I'm a Marquette grad so the UW v Ohio State rivalry isn't that edgy for me either.

The only thing that I hold against Ohio is subjecting the country to four more years of George W. Bush. Nice job Ohio.

I like this analysis on the Bucks:

16. "Ooooh, it's a formidable scent. Stings the nostrils."
"In a good way, right?"
"Brian, I'm gonna be quite honest with you -- that smells like pure gasoline."

One of my favorite exchanges in the movie (Brian Fantana showing off his prized Sex Panther cologne to Ron Burgundy) goes to the Milwaukee Bucks, who invigorated their franchise with the following moves:

• They spent $90 million for Michael Redd, a nice enough player who has a zero percent chance of ever making an All-NBA team.

• They used the No. 1 pick in the 2005 Draft on Andrew Bogut, who looked shaky enough in summer league games that there hasn't been this many people cringing in Milwaukee since Jeffrey Dahmer was still running amok.

• They spent $30 million for Dan Gadzuric, an energy guy whose per-minute rebounding stats were surprisingly good (8.3 boards in less than 20 minutes a game). In fact, I liked this signing. But this has to mark the first time in NBA history that a team drafted a center No. 1 overall, then spent another $30 million on an insurance plan just in case that No. 1 pick didn't pan out. Not a ton of faith there.

• They overpaid a little ($47 million) for Simmons, one of my favorite players in the league ... unfortunately, they already have Redd and Desmond Mason at the swingman positions. A truly goofy signing unless they plan on moving Mason.

• They announced that T.J. Ford was back, and that his surgically-repaired spine can finally withstand the rigors of an NBA season ... but it's probably a good idea if he doesn't drive to the basket as much. I'm not making this up.

funny read. one about paxson in there too

Nice try Cleveland56. This article is all comedy. The guy basically rips every team apart.

Hey CDT,

Did you know that the size of a guy's signed contract has no bearing one way or the other on how he will perform on the court next year? There is no corrolation between being overpayed (which both Hughes and Redd are) and being a lesser basketball player because of it.

Here's one fact that you can build a Hughes v Redd debate around: The Cleveland Cavaliers wanted Redd more than Hughes (the ugly sister in this case).

I wouldn't be quite so sure of that.

The fans definately wanted Michael Redd more due to him homestate connections, but Ferry mentioned yesterday at the press conference that he pretty much always knew that Redd was not going to turn down the Bucks offer and that the offer from the Cavaliers was more or less a "token" offer.

So Ferry made the decision to send Mike Brown go and meet Larry Hughes at Hughes's home in Saint Louis while the "offer" to Michael Redd was still on the table.

In fact, Larry Hughes agreed to a contract the same night Michael Redd left from his visit to Cleveland.

In addition to what CBBI said, Hughes was courted long before anyone thought we did. We had initial conversations with him during the playoff series.

Everyone wanted Redd because he fit the glaring need we were missing: a pure shooter at the wing. And that he's a hometown boy and it would be a sweet story. But I think both Danny Ferry and Mike Brown would agree that our perimeter defense wasn't looking too good either, and having the lineup with 2 non-existant defenders (LeBron + Redd) wouldn't be such a great idea. And, that the shooting problem can be addressed elsewhere (Donyell Marshall). Of course this is all speaking in hindsight, but I'm commending Ferry + Brown for their foresight.

And, we didn't court Redd to the fullest, apparently. No LeBron to court him, no Danny Gilbert, just a standard recruitment. Perhaps Brown/Ferry already convinced him that Redd wasn't the right fit, and that Hughes was a much better option?

I know Hughes wasn't my #1 option come this offseason, but he would have been fairly high if I didn't believe he was staying in Washington for sure. I'm just happy that Ferry made him the #1 option.

what a "BRILLIANT" post

i think the cavs came to their senses..

you can get the shooter alot easier then you can get the all around basketball player

redd = shooter
hughes = basketball player

You guys are right. Redd never came to Cleveland as they really didn't want him anyways. Cleveland would have never given Redd a 5 year 72 million dollar deal if he told them Cleveland was his #1 choice. A 5 year 60 million dollar deal for an "old" 26 year old player (7 years in the league already...yeeesh) in a contract year is what they wanted to do all along. Yep. We'll see how far the lack of a jumper will carry him in the playoffs. Redd averaged 24.7ppg after the all-star break with every team focused on stopping him. Redd still has upside. Larry will never have a 3 point shot. 8 year players are pretty much a finished product.

Your losing your credibility fast Cleveland. The scent of homerism is in the air!

There's not a scent of homerism in wanting larry hughes over michael redd. He's a better player overall. I was one of the few on this board who wanted hughes before any of the other shooting guards, now everyone easily sees my perspective of having a complete player, over a player who just fills one need as ferry agreed with me. :D

Would you also say that Larry Hughes is a better player (all-around) than Reggie Miller in his prime?

Just food for thought.

Michael Redd is no Reggie Miller. The arguement is irrelevant.

I'd rather have scottie pippen than reggie miller.

Would you even compare Reggie Miller with Redd? Miller played average defense, Redd is the worst defensive player at his position. Miller carried his teams, Redd carried his team to the worst record in the NBA.

Redd is a borderline all-star, Miller is a borderline hall of famer. Talk about homerism, even comparing Miller with Redd right now is one of the worst cases of homerism I have ever seen.

This is about as bad as those who like to compare Jordan with James.
