His vertical form looks good in almost all of them. I couldn't predict which were makes and which were misses. Is it the upper body motor control in his release? Not squaring his feet [feet look inconsistent in most of his misses]?

Last season he had a noticeable hitch in his 3s. That looks fixed now.

I am also confused about this. His upper body form looks quite good actually, he has the length to shoot over people, he is usually open/unguarded, and he clearly practices the shot, but he’s a fucking horrible three point shooter. What’s going on with that? The stuff about his feet from you and @pinoycavsfan is helpful, but I can’t believe this wouldn’t have been pointed out to him and worked on over the course of two years in the NBA

I suspect that whatever is wrong with his three point shot is also contributing to the problems he has with midrange jumpers, short turnaround jumpers, and interior hook shots. None of these are reliable. There is something fundamentally off about his shooting form that needs to be worked on.

The part that sucks about the Allen situation with Mobley is Mobley is forced to be the guy to try and develop an outside shot when HE is the one that has so much potential inside…

But because JA has no offensive skills other than a hook and a dunk we are counting on Mobley to be the gimmicky stretch guy.

I don’t think his form is much of an issue. I have seen worse forms than that. The more worrisome is he seems to have a lack of shooting touch.

Hope he is able to develop it through volumes upon volumes of jumpers during this off season, though.

This. That is why I am also one of the proponents of breaking up the duo. If we love to have two bigs, I hope we land Naz Reid and let him be the perimeter oriented big while keeping Mobley as the hub inside the paint.

I am anxious that Mobley might become a more durable John Henson. If John Henson could reach the level of a perennial DPOY candidate.

I have no faith in this staff helping him develop his offense. I am a little uncertain that adding Mitchell to the mix was going to help him develop too. I feel as if that trade was something you could not pass on in the moment considering top 15 players do not come available to small market teams that often. Just have a lot of fear that the unintended consequence is Mobley sacrificing touches to Garland, Mitchell, and random dudes like LeVert.

I hope I am wrong, but this team had become unwatchable to me after like 15 games so I have been hot and cold with watching the Cavs consistently. The playoff series against the Knicks was so grossly uninspiring. I have endured too much shit since Lebron left the first time for me to sit through Mike Brown 3.0 and Koby acting like a poor man's David Griffin. This current team is too depressing.

I believe that Evan Mobley has offensive potential.

I am skeptical that it will be realized with this roster and this coaching staff.

In other words, fire JBB.

Exactly my fear too. Despite his flaws, I still maintain he was held back a lot offensively, from this stupid coach.

Ugh, so frustrating. It's so important for big men to operate in space, and he can't with Allen on the floor.

That's why I hate they are trying to force this to work. Defensively, yeah, it's awesome, offensively it's always going to be a problem, no matter how Mobley evolves.

Lol, the playoffs this year mean nothing for playoffs in the future. Your just mad they lost and need more growth. But we knew that before.

who here would trade Mobley and Garland for Luka, Giannis. or Jokic?

Pretty sure i read a post yesterday saying the main reason JBB is still here is because Koby trusts him to develop Mobley. If that is actually the case, we're screwed. He's already a defensive player of the year candidate, JB knows nothing about offense so how is he going to help Mobley?

Gonna help develop him by running him out of town so he joins an organization that actually knows how to develop players

No doubt, trusting a defensive minded coach to develop your future star player on the offensive side is how you get fired.

Seeing AD makes me worry about Mobley a little more. AD came into the league as a defensive star but only scored 16 in college. His offense his rookie year was ok, but he really took off in year 3, and go to the point where he was a serious offensive threat.

But in the playoffs and in big moments, he still reverts back to his nature as a guy who doesn't score much or want to be that guy. I could see the same happening to Mobley. It's hard to not be a scorer by nature and develop into an offensive dog.

And the way the rest of the Cavs look - someone above the height of 6'2" has to be able to go and get a bucket when you need it.
