Game 59 | Cavaliers @ Celtics | February 25, 2010 | 8:00PM (EST)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
good point. But if LBJ gives Rondo room then he will just drive by him......look I'm a huge LeBron fan but if we got to rely on LBJ stopping Rondo's penetration then were in trouble....that's what we have West for.

Explain your reasoning. You give a player room when you are guarding him if you are worried he will blow by you. If LeBron is giving him room, daring him to shoot, how is that going to give Rondo the driving edge? That doesn't make sense.

Why are you talking like LeBron is Paul Pierce and has no lateral movement? LeBron is one of the quickest players in the league.

LBJ is one of the FASTEST players in the league and for his POSITION he is the quickest but Rondo is the QUICKEST PG in the league and that's why he will get by LBJ. Rondo is quicker than LBJ......

I'm not saying LeBron will stay in front of Rondo on every possession... no one can.

But I think you are seriously underestimating LeBron's defensive abilities.

Delonte is a better option, then Boobie....

Isn't whoever gaurds Rondo going to be 5 feet off him (daring him to shoot)? That in itself should help whoever is on him...

On a side-note, I hope that old corpse Wallace chucks 3's when he's in. I love watching his 3's abuse the rim...

How so? Neither Boobie or Delonte have the lateral quickness, strength, athleticism, or length of LeBron.

Delonte and Boobie are better defenders against quicker guards than LBJ is......btw what does strenth and length have to do with guarding Rondo....:chuckles:

I found an article on SI that features the top 10 players in the NBA according to 271 players in the game. I know it's not a hard stat or anything but I think players who play against these guys would know who is fastest. LBJ is on the list and Rondo is not.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/players/02/20/poll.0220/index.html

T.J. Ford, Raptors.....25%
Allen Iverson, Nuggets.....18%
Leandro Barbosa, Suns.....9%
Tony Parker, Spurs.....8%
LeBron James, Cavs.....8%
Earl Boykins, Bucks.....5%
Shawn Marion, Suns.....5%
Gilbert Arenas, Wizards.....5%
Chris Paul, Hornets....3%
Speedy Claxton, Hawks.....3%

Yawn... what an outdated article. It's three years old. Rondo kinda grew since then and AI just got old.

I'd say Rondo is on the list now, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Rondo still isn't a great shooter. That will be something that could bite them, especially without Pierce. We'll see.

I'm not touching the LBJ Rondo thing but those SI lists are awful. Darren Collison may be one of the fastest guys in the league and he isn't on the list and I'm pretty sure it is pretty common knowledge that Rondo is fast as well as quick. edit: now that I know the ^^^ poll was from three years ago I know why Collison wasn't on the list :chuckles:

Here is another "list" for you:

SI Poll

WHO IS THE NBA'S MOST OVERRATED PLAYER? February 22, 2010

Tracy McGrady, Rockets G/F 9%

Danny Granger, Pacers F 4%

LaMarcus Aldridge, Trail Blazers F 3%

Andre Iguodala, Sixers G/F 3%

LeBron James, Cavaliers F 3%

I think you made a mistake about where this game is taking place.

I mean, with all these old people, shouldn't it be taking place at a nursing home somewhere in Boston?

Rondo's just too damn quick for LeBron and any knowledgeable fan can see that, sure LBJ can guard him for a couple of plays a game but he can't match up with him the whole game, LBJ would get caught on a pick and Rondo will just get to the hoop and either score or pass it out to an open man....

He is very different than Alston. Although a streaky shooter, Alston can get hot in a hurry. This is something Rondo's game does not have. It is easier to sit on Rondo and cut off the lane to stop drives and force passes. The Magic were just a tough match-up all around. I don't think Lebron could fully concentrate on shutting down Alston because of the other mismatches all over the court.
