Game Thread | 2021-2022 Season | Game #17 | Warriors @ Cavs | Nov. 18, 2021

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Lack of talent can be blamed for specific games and overall trends

It's now 6 games in a row w/o hitting 100.

At some point, the finger just has to be pointed towards the coaching staff for not being able to scheme 100 points once out of 6 games.

He's just an awful offensive coach and it is screaming Mike Brown part 3 right now.
Missing four starters plus Cedi & going up against the best team in the NBA on the second night of a back to back and third game in four nights.

Nets and Warriors back to back.

We scored 81 points through three quarters. There was nothing wrong with scheme or anything else. We ran out of gas and the #1 defense in the NBA turned it up.

I thought there was still a lot of positive things in this game. Comparing result to the predictions before it started (while people still thought no Curry, Cedi playing) i'd say the outcome is more than respectable. Cavs had to play the two most likely MVP candidates in back to back nights...those arent the games that are must-wins now.

I hope I'm not giving the impression that I'm defending playing Okoro 20 straight minutes or whatever it was. I'm just saying in regards to Curry, I don't believe it would have made an ounce of difference.

Oh you're not. I'm just adding a bit to your point. Saw your other post about Okoro and totally agree.

Also, not having our only rim protector out there when they're literally getting anything they want at the rim is incredibly asinine on JBB's part. There are minutes he looks like a great coach and then for whatever reason in the 4th he turns to shit. I understand people will say we've won a bunch of tight games in the 4th... And yeah, the Raptors one was great. But for the most part, we've lost double digit leads pretty much every 4th quarter. And they go so fast... I don't see too many teams give up runs the way we do. I'd want to keep him as a motivational coach, but I just don't see enough actual coaching from him.

We scored 6 points in a quarter. 6.

Inexcusable under any circumstance.

Even if JBB is the worst coach in the history of the NBA or if the decision to leave on Okoro is the worst individual decision of the season, Curry could have and would have done the same thing regardless of who we put on him. Not defending him. Not defining Okoro. There is no player on this team who stops or even bothers Steph. When he puts his mind in the game and the Warrios buckle down and run their Curry based action, what we just saw is what it looks like 99 out of 100 times.

My complaint against the team and the coach would be the 4th quarter offense. I know they are tired. And I know GS buckled down. But 8 points in the quarter is still a horror show and he should have taken more timeout to get into Rubio and Garland to ru the offense better or make changes on the floor more based on offense than the futile hope of stopping a hot Curry

Firstly, we could have defended better. The defense was a mistake schematically.

But my whoooole post talks about the offense. You just need to respond and you can't do that with Okoro.

I mean…

We ARE down like over half the rotation

The 4th q scoring was Inexcusable tho

He definitely needs an assistant to scheme stuff up. I will say, most coaches would find it hard to hit 100 when they've had 70 points removed from their rotation.

And no....70 points is not an exaggeration. I understand points are replaced by others but the quality of offensive skillset greatly diminishes when we trot these guys out there.

We’ve lived in some of the same places. I was born (1986) and raised in Plainfield but I lived in Philly for 6 years (2004-2010…went to Drexel, worked there after until the great recession ruined that). My favorite city in the world.
My stepson went to Drexel and graduated in 2010 - Architecture. Was employee #47 at WeWork. Philly is an underrated city, especially Center City. Did you ever have Dinic’s roast pork sandwich in Reading Terminal Market?

Spare me the bullshit, even your #1 coach of choice gets outclassed in the 4th qtr.

Credit to JBB for having his guys play hard vs the best team in the league.
Nah. JBB’s rotations are still suspect. He doesn’t seem to have accurate conceptions of what his players can do. JBB can’t be playing guys who kill the team as long as he does. And we should be able to run plays out of time-outs to get easy buckets and end runs. Instead, we struggle to inbound the ball, after time-outs. The guys played hard, but they didn’t play smart, because they didn’t get enough help from the coach.

Just finished watching. Great effort and passing for the first 3 quarters. Loved the ball movement. Amazing on how we were up by 13 with 6 guys not being able to play today.

The one thing I hated is that Okoro just stands in the corner so Curry can just rest defensively and do what he wants on offense.
