JEREMIAH OWUSU-KORAMOAH

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Agreed. In hindsight, Mica Parsons probably comes off the board ahead of JOK because he can play edge, but JOK could have gone ahead of Zaven Collins at #16, and definitely ahead Jamin Davis at #19

Collins might be an even worse pick than Davis when you look at the process of the pick. They drafted a supersized LB at a time where the entire league is shifting to smaller, quicker guys to play and cover in space, and he apparently played 4 snaps last game.

I said it during the draft process and I'll say it again:

1. JOK is my favorite defensive player, regardless of position value.

2. Zaven Collins should ideally play outside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme. He's playing inside with Simmons - he may look better once he acclimates.

Teams are going to realize very soon that nobody can run the ball to Myles' side anymore. It used to be a thinly veiled secret that Myles only cares about QB pressures and will let a running back blow by him. Now, instead of pretending to care about containment on the edge, he goes balls out and trusts JOK to clean up the mess. Watching them completely shut down one side is probably my favorite part of Browns games right now.

Clowney's speed has always been why he is so good against the run too. Its no secret that speed kills when it comes to defense. We now have 4 or 5 defenders with insane level speed for their position, its why our defense is so good.

I am curious if we will ever see JOK as the LB in a dime package. I go back and forth on the concept, and i am thinking we just use less dime packages and use more nickel because JOK is really best as an off ball LB and makes the need for dime to cover TE's and RB's almost not needed, except Harrison has been so good at the position of dime back.

In the dime, JOK would have to be signal caller. I believe JOK will be an every down player next year, but right now calling the defense is assigned to Malcolm Smith and Elijah Lee - veterans.

Woods opens every statement about JOK with quotes about bringing him along slowly:

"There are multiple packages we can create for him, but there is only so much he can handle because when you get on the field, you have a certain number of reps. If you are giving him a lot of stuff to do, how many times can you rep it for him to be comfortable doing it? That is with our defense in general," said defensive coordinator Joe Woods on Thursday.

Johnson could call the signals for a dime package, the issue is the only LB plays on ball and he is an off ball lb. I am not sure he is really fit for a dime LB to be honest, but like i said, because of his covering skills and speed, the need to move Harrison or Delpit in the box instead of a LB is less necessary. We could get Dime like coverage from a Nickel package.

I mean thats a bargain, saves us a full nickel, that is like 50% savings. (the math is a joke, not the ability of JOK to stay on the field in Dime situations)

.. when Owusu-Koramoah was asked Wednesday if he believed he's playing well, he didn't necessarily agree.
"I don't know how to define 'well,'" he said with a smile. "I still have things to work on and am still looking for things to correct — smaller details and things. Am I playing well? Not necessarily in my eyes. I could do better."
... his response to one question about a missed tackle on the opening kickoff back in Week 1 highlighted that mentality.

"That stuck with me," he said. "I was really sick about that. I don't really hold too much on the past, but I'm always trying to correct those mistakes. That's what I've been trying to do every week."

This guy has the freak athlete ability, is mature and has a great mindset… Rare to have all that in one player. Will be one of the best defensive players in the league within a few years, if not the best… Him and Myles can duke it out
