Unpopular opinion.....
Berry spends more than 75 cents on the kicker position this year browns have 3 more wins, including today
Let's dive in to this...
Loss to Chiefs: No missed kicks
Loss to Chargers: No missed kicks
Loss to Cardinals: No missed kicks
Loss to Steelers: No missed kicks
Loss to Patriots: No missed kicks
Loss to Ravens: 1 missed FG, lost by 6 points - the miss came on the Browns opening possession. Browns would have had the ball down 3 on the final possession, but they never got past their own 32. Don't think this miss made a huge difference in the outcome.
Loss to Raiders: I explained this one in a previous post. The Browns were actually forced to be appropriately aggressive on 4th down in the 4th quarter when they would have almost assuredly attempted a tying FG instead. The FG miss was ultimately not the difference in the game because the Browns went for and got a touchdown they otherwise wouldn't have attempted.
Loss to Packers: If Naggar makes the opening XP, the Browns don't attempt a 2PT on their 2nd TD. If we assume he makes that XP (which is not 100% given he did miss one), the Browns would have ultimately gotten the ball back with 2:05 to go with the game tied at 24 instead of trailing by 2. But they never got into field goal range anyway, so once Baker threw the INT, the Packers would have only needed roughly 15 yards to be in position for the game winning field goal without it ever going to OT. It's fair to say the Browns may have have a slightly better chance of winning with made XPs on the first two touchdowns, but it's certainly disingenuous to say it cost them the game when they never would have had the lead in the 2nd half at any point even with those makes.
Other games the Browns missed a FG or an XP
Win over Bengals
Win over Lions
Win over Ravens
Win over Broncos
So basically... no? The Browns kicking at best cost them 1 game and really more like 0 games?
