Lindor trade ideas

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
With Urshela undergoing elbow surgery, Yankees will not be trading Andujar.

I don't really care if Andujar is part of the deal or not TBH. I want Frazier back and if the Yankees will give Frazier and one of Gil/Schmidt then I'd do it now before they change their minds. Frazier is a beast and I prefer him to Guirriel Jr. The 2020 season was Clint just starting to show IMO.

I feel very confident in saying that Andujar will not be playing any 3B for the Yankees. That ship sailed and won't be returning. He is now a 1B/LF/DH and I think the Yankees have all those positions covered.

Urshela will not miss any of the season. He had a bone chip removed and there was no tissue damage. The worst case scenario is 3 months, but most will recover well ahead of that schedule.

The return from the surgery should be without issue.. The timing stated, three months, puts Urshela around the second full week of spring training for position players.. perhaps a little later.. So, he might start his spring training season a little behind, but, not seriously.. At any rate.. by the time Spring Training opens.. teams, including the Yankees have already determined what their needs are & won't be "waiting" and "then" reacting for any reason.. They'll have their squads pretty much set and ready to go into battle.. Waiting?... that's just silly..

"Nolan Jones — The club's top prospect, Jones is getting additional work in the outfield and at first base in an effort to give him as many roads to the majors as possible in 2021."

"A better athlete than his below-average speed might indicate, Jones has worked hard to transition from high school shortstop to pro third baseman. He has the strong arm required at the hot corner and he has improved his footwork and agility. He's on his way to becoming an average defender at third base and has a fallback of playing the other infield or outfield corners."

We're talking Thome speed in the field and on the basepaths. Again, if he and Naylor are both on the roster then Naylor will be playing LF for 2 reasons. First, Naylor's profile fits better in LF. Second, Jones profile is definitely that of a 1B. Realistically, I expect Jones to start the season in Columbus and force his way to Cleveland at some point in the season.

Who said that quote though?

Somebody names RandyMack52 posted a trade suggestion between the Reds and the Rockies where the Reds would send Hunter Greene and Jonathan India to the Rockies for Trevor Story and Riley Pint.. A decent trade..

Then, the light went on..

What if it was Francisco Lindor and someone "like" Lenny Torres was sent for Hunter Greene and Nick Senzel?.. That deal could stand on its own & would be worthy of consideration.. but, what if it was immediately followed by sending Hunter Greene to the NYY's for Clint Fazier and one of Miguel Yajure or Yoendrys Gomez.. This is a deal the Yankees could jump on.. what if the same deal was presented to the Braves or Angels with Brandon Marsh or Drew Waters as the primary return..? Something to think about..

Two ML OF'ers who can start almost immediately.. plus a young pitching prospect.. Leaves a hole at SS.. but that can be covered in one of several ways.. including internal options..

Thoughts?..

Eh, I'd rather just do the first deal and see if I could get Stephenson or (what do you guys think of Jose Garcia?) instead of Greene plus another prospect like Kuhnel.

MLB.com

That didn't have the same quote at all. I didn't see anywhere in the off season that said Jones was playing at 1B (even though i believe he should myself).

Jose Israel Garcia is about where Tyler Freeman is.. he's an excellent prospect who's had a taste of the ML's.. Like many guys.. when they get their first taste.. they don't need to be told they're not ready.. but they are told what areas they need to work on.. With the Garcia's history.. he'll work on those things.. He has the chance to be an excellent ML shortstop, but, he's still just a prospect.. perhaps by September of 2021 he'd be more ready.. same with Freeman..

Joel Kuhnel is a BIG armed RP.. he'd fit into just about any pen..

I'm not sure why I'd want a SS that's a year or more away.. but, he's a good prospect.. that's the bottom line and in line with what Jup stated.. high upside guys.. not necessarily at specific spots..

That is a scout speaking from MLB not someone from the Indians organization. The Indians organization stated he was playing OF, not he was playing 1B. They haven't been putting him at 1B at all this offseason so he isnt playing 1B in 21.

IDK where he's going to play.. but his best spot remains 3B where his lack of range/foot speed and very strong arm play up... The other places are being investigated to provide versatility..

I think Nolan will end up in RF...he's not really fast but he's a good athlete. and does have a strong arm.

C-Perez
1B-Naylor
2B-Chang (could play SS too)
SS-
3B-Ramirez
LF-
CF-Mercado
RF-Jones
DH-Reyes

Maybe Daniel Johnson plays LF, or maybe Naylor goes there, or that could be someone we acquire. Chang should get a shot at either SS or 2B and the other will need filled.

Nick Senzel could be an interesting target, with him at 2B and Chang at SS.

Alec Bohm would be a dream acquisition and could play 1B.

Clint Frazier, Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Teoscar Hernandez, Brandon Nimmo, JD Davis, and Dylan Carlson are other targets that may make sense.

I'm actually pretty excited/hopeful about this team moving forward.

He's been horrible at 3B... There isn't any ifs ands or buts about it. He also will be a platoon player for at least the first season or two as well since he cannot hit lefties it looks like.

Until the Yankees decide whether they wii bring back DJ Le Maheu and Brett Gardner, I really doubt they make any trades as both their infield and outfield will be unsettled.

Good grief. His best position isn't 3B and he sure as hell isn't going to play RF. I don't think he'll sniff the OF for the Indians, but maybe I'll be proven wrong. Time will tell. All I know is if he's put in the OF then the lack of range at 3B will be quantified in LF. He's slow boys and giving him more ground to cover seems absurd to me, but whatever.

As nice as it would be we're not getting Bohm.

Daniel Johnson is the fastest player on the field outside of Zimmer and has the strongest arm. I like to see him in CF, but if that doesn't occur he will be in RF.

Send Lindor and a prospect or Hedges to the Yankees for Frazier, Andujar, and Gil.

As much as I hate the idea of actually doing it, trade Carrasco to free up money and to fill SS and/or 2B immediately and add SP depth. If you want high upside prospects then get them with Cookie. That's around $30M saved by trading Lindor and him. Use a minute fraction of that money saved to sign Renfroe and bring back Hernandez. Renfroe could probably be signed for $5M for 2 yrs and Hernandez would likely come back for a 2 yr $12M deal.

Put Renfroe in RF, Frazier in LF, and let Mercado and Johnson battle for CF duties with the 2nd place finisher being the 4th OF. Zimmer and Luplow will just have to stay in the minors or go away. The lack of potent OF bats would come to an abrupt halt, and cheaply.

The IF would have Ramirez at 3B and Hernadez at 2B. Andujar at 1B. Chang, Miller, and a return from the Carrasco trade can fight for SS duties.

The lineup would look something like:
1. Hernandez
2. Ramirez
3. Andujar
4. Reyes
5. Frazier
6. Renfroe
7. Johnson
8. Chang or whoever
9. Perez

Chics and fans dig the long ball and they'll be exiting the yard frequently. All for around $50M. The highly rated prospects can force their way into the lineup and fill in for injuries. I'll leave it to you guys to figure out the bench players, but Mercado, Naylor, a UIF, and a backup C will be needed.

Cherny, feel free to copy and paste or print this off. Just make it happen.

Jones' speed isn't an issue at 3B, it's his footwork, which won't be an issue in the OF.

The Indians are full steam ahead with Jones in RF. He played the OF almost exclusively at Instructs. He'll get some playing time at 1B to add to his versatility but the strong preference is for him to be in RF.
