Lindor trade ideas

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If that's true then the proposed Lindor trade is in the Jays favor. I'd rather trade Lindor in a deal that's at worst neutral and doesn't rely on more trades (which are always uncertain and especially so in this economic climate) in order to be successful.

IOW, I personally will be disappointed if they trade Franky for players they hope to be able to trade for other players. Just get the players you want now. We have the top trade target in MLB we should act like it.
The Indians DO want Lourdes Gurriel Jr.. an OF'er who is coming into his own.. and a solution to 1/3 of the Indians outfield issues.. The Indians would keep him.. The Indians would love to get an additional 3B prospect in the form of Rece Hinds. There is a question about Nolan Jones staying at 3B.. So, this guy might provide the kind of talent at the hot corner the Indians can/would use starting around in the 2022/2023 season. The two SP's attached.. The Indians would love to keep either or both.. but if they could couple one of them with one of our own prospects.. then the second "third" solution to the OF can be returned.. someone like Brandon Marsh or Drew Waters.. or Tyler Oneill/Harrison Bader/Tommy Edman.. or.. or.. or..

The Indians are going to trade Francisco Lindor.. this is a path to maximize his value while filling all areas of the club that are in need with guys who are talented, controllable and inexpensive..

The disappointment is the fact that Lindor is at the end of his Cleveland career.. this is how that disappointment is mitigated..

...but if wallowing in disappointment is the choice.. good luck with it..

Enough of the Triston McKenzie discussions in the Lindor Trade Ideas thread...

Alas.. another version of a trade has been posted by what I would believe is a fan of the Jays.. who sees their primary need as Starting Pitching.. can't dispute that.. anyway, here is his proposal:

Reds get Francisco Lindor

Jays get Sonny Gray

Indians get:
Jonathan Davis OF (Jays)
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. OF (Jays)
Adam Kloffenstein SP (Jays)
Sean Reid-Foley SP (Jays)

I suggested the inclusion of Jonathan Davis was just a throw in that meant nothing. The valuation of the trade along with the exclusion of Jonathan Davis could be and should be balanced with a better OF prospect... such as one from the Reds like Aristides Aquino, Mike Siani, & Rece Hinds (he's playing 3B, but is listed as likely to be moved to a corner OF, RF, as he has both arm and speed).. All of these additions would change the valuation of the trade ever so slightly in the Indians favor, but, not by more than 1.2 to 2.0 MM.

Thoughts?..

Are you referring to Korn's lead singer or the shitty OFer for the Blue Jays when you mention Jonathon Davis? Neither is really desirable and neither is Reid-Foley. At the rate that BP arms are entering FA this offseason, there is no reason to trade for one that isn't very established. I'd rather get Groshans, Woods Richardson, and Kloffenstein in that deal. If Groshans isn't part of the return for Lindor then Toronto can F off. In my humble opinion and respectively of course.

Just get it over with already, call the Yankees and Get Frazier and Gil. If they can get Andujar too then fine. He and Reyes can compete for LF duties with the loser being relegated to DH. I would be happy with Reyes/Andujar in LF, Mercado or Johnson in CF and 4th OF, and Frazier in RF. Reyes, Andujar, Frazier, and Naylor will give Ramirez ample protection. Other than LF, the OF defense would be palatable.

If they don't/can't get Andujar then get Frazier, Gil, and Florial and sign Hunter Renfroe. The defense would probably be better and Renfroe would provide as much or more power than Andujar, but his overall hit tool isn't as good.

Using the valuations provided by the website.. the Jays would be the ones expressing the physical impossiblity of fornicating with thyself..

The kid who posted the original deal.. resubmitted with Rece Hinds instead of Jonathan Davis..and immediately got three thumbs up.. One more thumbs up and he'd get a free set of ginzu steak knives...

Will 3 thumbs up and 2 middle fingers get him his steak knives? If so then I can be of help.

Groshans to me would better prospect than Hinds

Groshans to me would better prospect than Hinds
agreed.. but to get Groshans.. something more would need to be sacrificed..Groshans is valued between four and six times the value of Hinds.. Think Civale value.. that's a no go for me..

BTW.. the same kid.. JoshL10.. posted another trade that may be of interest:

Dodgers get Blake Snell SP and Francisco Lindor SS
Rays get Julio Urias SP and and Keibert Ruiz C
Indians get Josiah Gray MiLB SP and Austin Meadows OF'er

Sending Frankie away.. is going to hurt.. but getting Josian Gray and Austin Meadows would solve some of the OF problems.. ?

Well, pass along to Josh that I'll buy him a knife set and a hooker if he can make that trade happen.

"Enough of the discussions on McKenzie, here's another rando with an made-up trade proposal"

Random thoughts.....

1. It is time to accept/expect Nolan Jones to play minimal if any time at 3B.
2. Will Reyes play more than 10% of his games as a position player?
3. Chang will get a chance to make it or break it this year... See Gio Urshela
4. Tmac may not stick as a starter, but seeing how most every single person thickens up as they age and his youth... You keep him there until he plays himself out of the rotation.
5. Our BP especially the righties might be a top 3 group next season
6. Trading Lindor should focus on getting the players with the greatest potential .
7. Next year Mercado won't be as bad as he was in 2020 but won't be as good as 2019.

1. Yes
2. Doubt it
3. Unfortunately yes
4. Absolutely
5. Eh, maybe
6. Yes, but, (position players other than catchers)
7. Probably

Why you excluding catchers? Happens to be the worst depth of any position in the Cleveland organization. Also Perez and Hedges are both due a loftier sum next season so the Indians need to get a heir apparent for Perez.

I mean we have Naylor, but outside of him, we have very little. We need catching talent and if we trade with the Blue Jays or the Mets, their will be a very good backup for Naylor available and not very expensive

-Nolan Jones @ 3B: Accept.. probably not yet.. Expect.. certainly not..

-Franmill anywhere but DH.. yes.. more than 10 %.. I hope they give him a shovel..

-Chang's chance is now.. if not now.. not ever.. agreed..

-TMac.. IDK.. The example I look to is Chris Sale who is awfully skinny. Sale slings it.. TMac is a tall and fall kind of guy with great balance through the delivery.. There is much less stress on his arm than Sale's.. I'll go with a wait and see on this one..but agree on the play himself into whatever role he settles into..

- The BP has the making of a MONSTER.. Key will be if any of the Lefty non-starters can step up.. That's right.. I'm looking directly at Sammy...

-Lindor.. The guys who come back have to be at specific spots AND have that potential... Secondarily.. I'd go with highest potential with the caveat that both can be achieved..

-Mercado can't be much worse that he was in 2020.. so.. there's that..
