The Indians DO want Lourdes Gurriel Jr.. an OF'er who is coming into his own.. and a solution to 1/3 of the Indians outfield issues.. The Indians would keep him.. The Indians would love to get an additional 3B prospect in the form of Rece Hinds. There is a question about Nolan Jones staying at 3B.. So, this guy might provide the kind of talent at the hot corner the Indians can/would use starting around in the 2022/2023 season. The two SP's attached.. The Indians would love to keep either or both.. but if they could couple one of them with one of our own prospects.. then the second "third" solution to the OF can be returned.. someone like Brandon Marsh or Drew Waters.. or Tyler Oneill/Harrison Bader/Tommy Edman.. or.. or.. or..If that's true then the proposed Lindor trade is in the Jays favor. I'd rather trade Lindor in a deal that's at worst neutral and doesn't rely on more trades (which are always uncertain and especially so in this economic climate) in order to be successful.
IOW, I personally will be disappointed if they trade Franky for players they hope to be able to trade for other players. Just get the players you want now. We have the top trade target in MLB we should act like it.
The Indians are going to trade Francisco Lindor.. this is a path to maximize his value while filling all areas of the club that are in need with guys who are talented, controllable and inexpensive..
The disappointment is the fact that Lindor is at the end of his Cleveland career.. this is how that disappointment is mitigated..
...but if wallowing in disappointment is the choice.. good luck with it..
