NBA FINALS 2023: Miami Heat vs Denver Nuggets

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Second round exits aren't as bad as they seem. Say we play Boston next year, and lose in 7 games. In a close series.

Is that really bad? It'd be a real bitch move to go "well, we can't win, I'm gone"....

He wanted out in Utah, not just because they didn't go far, but were making moves that seem clear, they weren't trying to win. So he said well, then just trade me.

I just doubt Mitchell feels he's LeBron James, where he HAS to only play for a team that can win a title.

Honestly, I'm not even that optimistic at the moment we get to the second round next year. If we do, then I'll be pretty ecstatic.

Not after what I saw from JBB against the Knicks.

I guess it kind of depends on the way you lose too, is it a close competitive series in the 2nd round or do you get your ass beat. I'm not confident we make the 2nd round either, I was saying that as a best case scenario.

I might be mistaken but I thought the Knicks had a lot of assets. And they just beat your ass so if they add Mitchell for nothing and use assets to add another good player or 2, they could be contenders. Brunson and Mitchell don't really work together though.

Utah was that quintessential team who was good in the regular season but wasn't built for the playoffs. Like Atlanta, pre Kawhi Toronto, CP3/Griffin Clips, ect... Hopefully we aren't one of those teams but I'm fearful that is our future based on how we beat up on bad teams and struggle vs good teams

In fairness, I thinj a lot of that is our incredibley blah offrnse. Its hard to create good shots when the defense knows 1/5 or 2/4 high pnr with no motion is going to happen every time like its 2008

I don't think the Knicks ceiling is that high, Randle and Brunson are coming off career years, and both are up there in age. And Randle didn't have an impressive showing IMO in the post season. Hard to imagine him being better.

I don't think the rest of their roster is that good. I am not high on Barrett at all. I think he sucks, and don't see any real upside. He's a very low efficient scorer, terrible defender. He's a negative on both sides of the floor. He's a bust pick to me.

I do think time is too short, and we got to make good, that's why bringing back JBB IMO, was the wrong call.

Because if we have another underwhelming exit, it all comes down to one more year. I have no idea if we will or won't keep Mitchell. I think bringing back JBB doesn't make me feel comfortable.

I think if we win a playoff series, he's coming back. Koby won't fire him. Even if we win, we lose, because JBB will always hold us back.

As for Mitchell, just a guess, obviously I can't get inside his mind. I think overall we have a relatively good chance of re-signing him. As long as we don't take a clear step back, and look like a team that can't and won't go anywhere in the future, too.

If that's the case, all is lost anyways. We still can offer Mitchell the most money. We still should at least be a team on the up and coming...

I think at the very least, if Mobley really takes off, and starts looking like a future superstar. Mitchell probably is more incline to stay... Team is young and can still grow, I think he understands that.

Anybody seen if Vincent is playing tonight?

(This is the NBA playoffs 22-23 thread, not 23-24)

kyle lowry is not getting enough hate

Nobody in the NBA is allowed to trade for Lowry or Robinson. It's extremely important that Coach Spoelstra is saddled with $50 million worth of dog shit every season or else he's going to run through the East time and time again.

Lowry was still good last year, this year, he clearly took a major step back and looks about done. And I find it amazing he nearly started every game, at his age.

He could maybe still give you 15 decent minutes at best, but asking more of that, at this point, is a disaster. He's still a good defender but a poor offensive player.

I am surprised he's playing at 37. I imagine the Heat have no interest in him coming back.

They can't play him 30 minutes. He's been a big fat negative, in every single game against the Celtics.

Even in wins, he's not contributing. More Vincent and less Lowry. Vincent being out last game was a huge deal for the Heat.

Unless Boston starts bricking their 3s again, Miami done messed up. They don't have the scoring to keep pace now.

I knew Love wouldn't start. I called it in the Love thread.

Competitive 1st quarter, but Boston got going again. This game is gonna be feisty and I'm gonna be nervous as frick.

I hate Boston's offense. It's trash, but when they get hot, it looks unbeatable. But its not sustainable play. I just find it hard to believe they can play this way to a title.

Pretty sure whatever happens in this series, Denver should feel real good about its chances winning it all.

7 foul shots in the first quarter for Boston. No Tatum. My goodness, who does the NBA want to win? Definitely not Boston.

Vincent and Martin are hot again. Keeping the Heat in it, pun intended.
