NFL Week 2 (9/14/14): Saints (0-1) @ Browns (0-1) [1:00 PM EST, FOX]

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I thought the coaching staff did well on both sides of the ball. . The formations and sets really had Brees guessing at critical times and ultimate was the difference between the Saint going for it on 4 and 2 inside the ten and settling for a field goal.

looking throught he game post .... its pretty unreasonable to expect a defense to complete shut down new orleans for 4 quarters. The Browns was in position to win the game and the Browns were executing the plays.

I liked how Kyle brought in Manziel in the second half. The Browns offense had lost some momentum and seemed to allow Hoyer and the offense to get back into rhythm.

If i had a game ball to give it would goto the defense and Dansby who had an exceptional game.

those running backs are dangerous out there as dual threats and really make the play action work.

it was an ugly pass to seal fg position for the winning field goal but it got the job done.

Five games with few mistakes. Five games where the Browns always seemed to be in it until the end. Five games where RCF ripped him pretty much the entire time.

Y'all need to start easing up on the guy.

I'm glad I didn't participate in this thread during the game... Ton of pessimism and 'woe is me'.

That was a game the Browns needed to win. No question. Being in it the whole game and losing at the end due to a muffed hold would begin the spiral downward attitudes and second guessing. Pettine could've had it happen to him, but he played the clock right and kept his cool.

Not going to happen Vegas or no Vegas.

don't really know where you're going with this...? you can say "not going to happen" about any team in the NFL and talk about their weaknesses ad nauseam... but there really isn't a better impartial Super Bowl contender 'ranking' system than looking at Vegas odds...

Just got back from the game! We're still undefeated in the games I attend, you're welcome for getting season tickets this year, Browns! Will have to apologize in advance for not being able to make all 8 games this year due to work, hopefully they can win without me! Was a really exciting game to be in the stands for, we got louder than I've heard at any of the other games I've been to and we made Brees waste a few timeouts! Good job all around!

Double selfie to celebrate!

This team is well coached. You can really see the difference in game management, not wasting time outs, and play calling. That my friends makes a huge difference.

Hoyer did everything he needed to do and it's the same thing he has done from game 1 with the Browns.

He put this team in a position to win. He LEADS an offense. Who gives a shit about stats, dude is one hell of a player when the game is on the line.

Browns are 3-1 for a reason when he plays. He's not a franchise guy, he's not Drew Brees. But with our running game and hopefully weekly improving defense, he doesn't need to be. And that's something Johnny needs to learn as well. We don't need the superstar, do everything QB. Just a guy who moves the chains and hits the open receiver.

i believe the stat is the browns are 4-1 when he starts

Just got done watching the full game replay (I know...). Here's how I look at it:

- Yes, it was a "Browns" kind of game with a "Browns" kind of result. I was entirely ready to cash in a refund for my NFL League Pass at half time. But the reality is, they showed real fight and real promise in the second half. I know we're all sick of moral victories but this felt like something a little more. Yes, they blew it in the last 60 seconds ("Once Browns football, always Browns football" - we know) and yes this could've been a blowout and the beginning of another embarrassing season. But they really showed heart and a great deal of pride to fight all the way back.

I thought the game would've swung in Pittsburgh's favor after that fake punt on 4th down but we still managed to look the better team and gave ourselves every opportunity to win.

Yes, it was a "Browns" kind of finish - mostly. Let's be realistic: we essentially had no right to win that game from the beginning. And the fact that we crawled our way back into it was a miracle in itself. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to have won and am sick of "moral victories" as well, but something tells me it meant more than morality to this team last night. Something tells me it wasn't your typical "Browns" kind of game.

Only one way to find out, though: Let's see how they come out next week!

^^

I said that last week and I feel like today's game runs a mile in validating that. This isn't your typical Cleveland Browns - something is different. And it's exciting.
