@BimboColesHair I saw you mention a few weeks ago that you expected that some elements of the logos would be tweaked before the merchandise starts going on sale. Have you heard any more on this front? I'm still hoping the G logo loses the baseball and gains a Guardian head.

This is where I really hope they deeper dive on the branding. The name change is done unless the roller derby team can pull off some unexpected WWF outcome and I am pretty confident they just want to be bought off. I have seen some pretty cool logos designed by others. The team should open up the opportunities for submittals and see what they get.

They would have to get the rights to the Guardian head which someone else currently has a copyright to, if I am correct. I think eventually they will get it, but I don't actually expect it in 22...

There are so many people using the Guardians heads/statues already though, I find it hard to believe that a singular company has the sole rights. Market Garden Brewing uses them, GV Art & Design, Cle Clothing, WhereImFrom, Homage etc

See I think that's why they didn't do the guardians symbol right away. It's likely going to be a slight mess when it comes to getting those copyrighted since I don't think the Indians/Guardians want a symbol they cannot copyright ya know? I am guessing, but it's either someone has the copyright and allowing others to use it, or the symbol cannot be copyrighted in the way the Guardians would like too.

That's a good point. I wasn't thinking how they probably would want to ensure wide control of the name/image. Like you mentioned, that definitely seems tricky considering how many places are currently using the statues in one shape, or form.

I hope the team is able to use them eventually. It could be one of the best logos in sports.

If you disliked Guardians, check out the 8 finalists for the Washington Football Team name.

Armada
Brigade
Commanders
Defenders
Presidents
Redhogs
Redwolves
Washington Football Team

per five thirty eight Twitter feed.

if forced to choose, I would go with Washington Brigade.

I like the Hogs, not Redhogs.....But Brigade is best of those.

I live near Cincinnati; I do not hear or read much about the Indians name change. So how are the fans reacting? Will there be a boycott like the Colavito trade? I am an Indian fan, and I hope attendance does not decline. To me, they will always be the Cleveland Indians.

I would say if you have been reading throughout the year you would know... from my perspective the name in general has mixed reviews. Most are indifferent or like the name change, but you will have the diehard fans that will boycott cause of the name change, but I think we lost more fans when Lindor got traded than the name change (I think mostly cause most people knew it was coming)...

Attendance shouldn't be any better or any worse right now on paper than it has been, but if the Guardians spend some money/acquire some names it could go up, but i expect the same old bottom ten attendance (sorry to say but true)...

I think the name is growing on people. And honestly it’s very close to the same name. I really like the new logo with the winged baseball too. Now…I still call them the Indians. That’s going to take time. But I am sort of excited now for the rebrand. Hell, they hadn’t won anything since the WWII era as the Indians. May as well give the Guardians a shot. Also it’s just a name. They are all kind of dumb. Look at the Browns for Pete’s sake.
