Watched Yan all year with my Nats.... I would stay with Plawecki.
I like Yan but goodness there felt like a drop off and I felt Suzuki was just a much safer play.
Yeah, Gomes is still a plus defensive catcher that has had a .700+ OPS the past three seasons.
Somebody will offer him a starting job and/or more money than the Indians should offer him.
on paper he looks like an upgrade but I agree his offers will probably be better on another team but I am not against bringing him back. Though I wonder if he is still good at 1st and 3rd like he was in his younger seasons, but that’s just the way to keep him playing everyday lol
I’m not sure why you’d want to keep him playing everyday.on paper he looks like an upgrade but I agree his offers will probably be better on another team but I am not against bringing him back. Though I wonder if he is still good at 1st and 3rd like he was in his younger seasons, but that’s just the way to keep him playing everyday lol
No way Yan Gomes would play 3rd. What the hell.
I know he played 3rd for Toronto. Doesn’t mean he should now. When Toronto had him, he was the backup minor league catcher so they had him play 1B, 3B and LF and RF at the pro level since they didn’t have any room for him. He actually happened to be legit at 3B defensively at the time we acquired him lol I did say that with a little sarcasm as well, but he actually would have ended up as an utility man (3B defensively he was the best at though) if he stayed in Toronto at the time not a catcher. It tells you how each organization values a player and Gomes ended up the best of off 4 catchers they had in the organization at the time.
Francisco Lindor - Gold Glove Award winner; interesting since a lot of his metrics were down this year compared to last year when he didn't win it, but I'm happy for him.
