Cards fans, especially in the comments section, but not limited.. are overvaluing their own (deJong?) while demeaning Lindor.. Just crazy stupid things like: "...deJong is worth more in trade than Lindor..." A deal for Lindor at the deadline is unlikely/not happening..
Silly to think DeJong is better than Lindor but I would for sure do a Lindor deal with DeJong as the headliner though. His contract extension plus his production level is JRam-esque.
Throw in one of: Carlson, Bader, Gorman, Edman, O'Neill and maybe a lower level prospect or a pitcher and I'd think you'd have a deal.
I just think replacing Lindor with five years of DeJong keeps the Indians contention window wide open through Jose's and Bieber's contracts.
I mean, the Indians are gonna need to have somebody play SS after they trade Frankie, right? There's no internal options at the moment. DeJong's max payout over the next five years is $50M with only $21M guaranteed. He's probably worth close to $100M on the open market.
Shoot, Didi Gregorius got $14M on a one year deal coming off a pretty bad season so I'm not sure a veteran stop gap like we did with Cesar Hernandez is gonna be within the Indians budget.
