The Donovan Peoples-Jones Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The hype out of training camp for DPJ was quite strong, so I could see some fans being unimpressed with him if they are just looking at the box score. But to echo @Out of the Rafters at the Q, he was out there for 80% of the snaps and had a positive impact on the running game. There will be some games he gets more targets, but he did his job yesterday.

If a guy is one of the best blocking receivers in the game and can come up big in the clutch like he did on that slant on fourth down, that's a feather in the cap.

Great game for a depth receiver.

I dont disagree, but I did expect more targets his way with OBJ non active.

That said, Schwartz looked great, and i cant remember one time thinking that DPJ should have gotten the ball thrown his way when DPJ didnt...just how it goes sometimes.

But with DPJ and Schwartz both, i do see OBJ not being kept for 16 mill next season. Money will go to other places.

I think they took thier new race car out for a spin... they will now figure out how to use Schwartz speed and DPJ height to completely screw defenses..

Peoples Jones might not get a lot of targets but he makes the most out of the ones he does get. His 2 catches (39 yds., 19.5 yds./catch) were pretty clutch and timely today.

He really doesnt get credit for his blocking. He blocks as good as any TE we have and does a great job of setting the edge or kicking out a corner/safety on an off tackle run.

How long will this groin injury linger?

Nothing worse than a lingering groin.

And why do we want to trade for DeSean?

Because he's worth a 7th round pick. He can still stretch the field. He's healthy. He's experienced. He can still play. He fills a defined role. D-Jax is right now what we want Anthony Schwartz to be.

I feel like people are gonna look at his age and laugh but if you actually watch him you'd see that he can still do what he's paid to do really well. Stretch the field.

I watched him, but if he isnt happy in LA being a 3rd/4th receiver on a pass happy offense, what makes you think he will be happy in Cleveland on the same role on a run happy offense?

Jackson has the 6th most targets behind 3 WR, a TE and a RB.

How would his role here be any different except we pass less?

Because if DPJ is injured, Odell and Landry are hurt but still playing, that leaves Higgins and Schwartz as the only other WR's. Higgins isn't a deep threat and it seems like Schwartz has been public enemy number one since that INT when Baker got hurt.

I'd imagine that D-Jax would probably get more looks than Schwartz giving Schwartz current standing on the roster no?

I'm just saying if DPJ 's groin that got hurt during pre game warmups (crazy) is going to linger and limit him then Higgins would likely step into DPJ's role and that would bump Schwartz up a spot but D-Jax is better at doing what he does than Schwartz currently is.

It's just a flyer but I think it would be worth it in the big play potential alone and D-Jax still has that big play potential. I don't know if Schwartz is ready yet.

With Case Keenum being Case Keenum and Baker being in the condition he's in, I don't know that we have a QB that could get the ball to him downfield right now. Obviously, if the cost were only a 7th, that's basically nothing, but I think he'd just end up being wasted here and just getting frustrated again

Wife & I saw DeSean Jackson's return to Philly a couple of years ago (home opener). He was the last player introduced and got by far the loudest cheers. He promptly caught a long pass for a TD and shortly after left the game and barely played after that.

He's one of the very best deep threats in the game but he can't stay healthy. Hard pass, sadly.
