Really? I don't think a name change is really being called for at all and is just the organization trying to get out in front of public opinion. I think they see a world where the Redskins change name and they become the new public enemy, but is that current reality?

I haven't seen anyone clamor for the Blackhawks, Braves, Seminoles, Senators, etc. to change their names. Maybe I just have my head too far in the sand though.

Name change is the right move, and probably the best time to just rip off the band-aid.

I could live with Spiders. Rocks would need a solid identity since it comes off very gimmicky. My vote would be Commodores. Lots to work with for logo ideas, has historic local value, alliteration rules, etc..

My hope: Change the colors while we are at it, since navy and red is so generic, especially in baseball. Would love Tulane colors, bright blue for our lake and dark green for the forest city.

Love the idea of finding inspiration from the Cleveland Buckeyes though. Would love some version of these caps over a Block C revival.

Do we have a thread for the name change? I know you want to stay away from politics and other stuff like that, but within the next 5 years or so, something with the teams name will change because of the political pressure on MLB and the Indians to change it. Regardless this topic in due time will end up with a thread cause of this pressure.

Edit: The biggest issue with this idea of the name change, its because of the political correctness that is causing the name change. Its a small group that is actually forcing MLB and the Indians to change things
